Cable-pulled skiing on flat ground (System 2.0)

So maybe this isn't new, but I have never seen this before.

You know how sometimes wakeboarders/wakeskaters have a cable pulling them down a river instead of a boat? Well this is the same concept, but for skiers and snowboarders. While the idea is pretty rad, the execution blows. Holding onto a handle like that will never be a good thing for skiing/snowboarding. What would be awesome, however, is if they just used it as a tow in and then ditched the handle. Would make for some pretty amazing backyard setups.

So it's like wakeboarding on snow with skis and no boat? Ok, that's pretty damn cool for the flatlanders... but I'll stick to my mountains.

aha yea me and a friend built a winch last summer out of a pocketbike engine. Our intention was to use it throughout the winter for urban, but we never actually got around to using it because its fairly heavy and awkward to carry.

That being said we did use it in the summer for a set up in my backyard and it was really fun. Hopefully next year we'll use it some more.

But I definitely think that winches will let you hit some really cool urban, especially bigger stuff instead of having to build a drop in or find a hill.

Yea winches definitely rule, but this thing fucking sucks. It's got potential though.

They need to get it going twice as fast, and stop hanging onto the handle the whole way through. This isn't wakeboarding, you can actually get a grab in there and put a little style into it.

looks expensive, awkward inconvenient hard to setup, and overall gay. i'll stick to a banshee bungee/winch. looks like wakeboarding on snow, and wha do you gain from holding the handle the whole time? on water, you will lose speed and stop without it, but on snow you will slide and keep going if you ditch the handle

That's a system they use at cable parks for wakeboarders and wakeskiers you dumb shit. Someone decided to bring it to snow and give it a try. Seems like a cool idea to me. Do I like the style with the handle? No. I hate waterskiing and wakeboarding, they both lack lots of steeze, IMO. And because I happen to suck dick at all water sports.

so your telling me that on perfectly flat ground, if you let go of the handle when on snow, you will maintain the same amount of speed needed to hit the jumps/rails and have momentum to hit numerous features?

it would make sense if you let go of the rope before you hit a feature and then could just pick up another one as it went by after you landed and hit the next feature.  the whole wakeboard/kiteboard style tricks like pulling yourself out of a rotation and even starting to spin the opposite direction doesn't really correlate to skiing and would probably cause a lot of injuries.  (Snow is harder than water)

The point isn't to hit multiple features though. Even while holding onto the handle the whole time, they still only hit one feature. I doubt the cable is long enough to line up more than one feature. They could easily let go of the handle before the jump and still have enough speed to hit it.
