New large chip Sony interchangeable lens camcorder announced!

Nope its not going to compete against the Panasonic AF100 4/3".. The sony is directed towards the consumer market.  From philipbloom.co.uk :

"It’s AVC-HD and is based around the new APS HD CMOS EXMOR sensor which will be in the new still camera hybrids NEX 3 and 5. Other than that and it’s availabilty late Autumn this year we know nothing morethan that…"

To bad its only 30P.. But its definetly a step towards the right direction!

Haha that thing looks like a POS. Soccer Moms don't care about interchangeable lenses; Sony's consumer product is a joke.

Yep, but its definitely a step in the right direction.. Cant wait for the sony 35mm camera thats going to be released 2011 though!

That is so amazing, bet it costs a pretty penny though. Also, like it was said, Sony's consumer stuff is ridiculous.

bump, for someone who doesn't know very much at all about camcorders or cameras for that matter, would the purpose of this just to get better zoom in your videos?

The biggest use of it is achieving a better depth of field using photo lenses on a video camera.
