now i know there are people out there who have been put out of commission due to legit injuries, but i'm wondering how many of you had to take leave because of a really stupid injury? for example, i was out for over a month due to bruising in the foot from slipping out of a hot tub and catching it under a metal fence. it was a little puncture wound, but because it was on the inside of the foot on the bone, i couldn't put a ski boot on. what are your stupid injuries from this year?
climbing over a chainlink fence hammered one night chasing some girl, caught my hand on the top and rip an inch long, maybe 1/4 inch deep tear in my palm, 7 stitches. our house is fucking smart eh skiierman?
i was wasted and somebody bet me i couldnt land it if i jumped off the balcony. i jumped landed about 15 feet below on hard ground barefoot. broke my heel, smashed my face into my knee, bit my tongue in half, broke my buckal plate (holds your teeth in) and cheekbone. had to get two root canals and 25 stitches in my tongue.
i got to skip class for like 4 days because i cut my hand pretty bad in the weight room because i set my hand down on something sharp while someone was moving it. 8 stitches. Get to skip composition test. Still got to ski. It was worth it.
went up to a resort a few hours away with my friends for a fun weekend trip, hotel and all. Bought two day passes, bluebird both days. The week before, they had gotten about 40 inches of snow. Was walking back to the hotel after the first night, slipped on ice and sprained my ankle. tried skiing on it the next day, was impossible. I had to sat outside of the lodge all day the second day. Ended my season early with a really stupid injury!
I broke my ankle stepping off a couch when I was like 11
We had this BALLER set up in my living room consisting of a mini trampoline through a chair, bounce on the couch and then jump over my dog. Quite the obstacle course. Well I got through the challenges while doing a few flips in between and then went to step over my dog and she moved. My balance was shifted and I broke my ankle...
broke my collarbone and have to have surgery because i didnt pop enough throwing a backflip. got it around but knuckled and just fell onto my shoulder. it blew
second run of my year i was hauling ass and tried to hit a little lip maybe 6in high made by snow on the tops of some tiny trees sticking up. both my skis caught and my face went into the snow and stayed there. my legs kept going over my head. my back spasmed massively so i couldnt move for a few seconds but was able to ski down to the lodge. i was out for two weeks. shitty stupid injury
This didn't put em out of sports or anything, but I dropped some ice cream on a stair set, slipped on it, and fell down the stairs. I was at the top too! I didn't even know ice cream was that slippery.
i fell out of my bed before skiing one day and thought i jsut sprained my wrist. one push with my hand down on the top of my ski pole and my hand broke.
at the beginning of the season i was playing soccer and while i was running i randomly broke my ankle. no joke my ankle just snapped in half while i was running
Two years ago I was sliding on the wood floor in my house in my socks and somehow managed to catch on a tiny piece that was sticking up. The splinter was 2 inches long...
I was playing Touch Football in PE in the gym, chased after this guy with the ball, missed him and ran into a cinder block wall. Busted my eyebrow open, needed like 7 stitches.
probably my brain dead manuveur of trying to do big tricks off the trampoline, landing upside down, and dislocating my elbow( which is a henious injury)
jumping a fence for a football game(it was free cause it was at 2nd half) cut my hand and ripped my shirt. Biking home and hit this mini 1 foot jump it had a super short tranny and launched me forward broke my collar bone 10 ft away from my house....epic fail
was at the batting cages and had my cleats on. saw a small, wooden post and attempted to jump on it, landing on the top with one foot. needless to say, the cleats werent very sturdy and i slipped off and sliced my shin practically down to the tendon/ bone. when i was at he hospital, i was named "victory boy" because my cut was in the shape of a huge "V". 21 stitches, 4 inside my shin skin. out for around a month. fucking dumbest thing ive ever done.
when i was a little kid, i tried to do a back flip into a pool, but it was on the corner, and i basically just landed on the other side right on my head and got a concussion
my school bus hit a bump, my foot slipped and i hit my shin right on a metal bar on the seat in front. bruised shin = now more prone to shinbang + opening day of discomfort (yeah, happened just a few days before opening weekend)
After biking the northshore of Vancouver and Whistler for a week I came home and broke my leg(tibia) on a curb after I fell wheeliing off it. pretty gay story when people asked me what happened
I jumped off a moving car onto pavement and scraped up the palms of my hands really badly. It was always bleeding cause it takes forever to scab up considering how much you move the palms of your hands. Had i not been wasted i probably wouldve thought the whole momentum physics aspect of it through.
In 2008 in the beginning of my third week working as a digger at Windells, John Symms (claim) asked me to throw his backback down to him, upon tossing the backpack I twisted my knee. That slight twisting of my knee tore up the majority of my Medial Meniscus, and forced me to return home and have surgery, putting me out for a total of 4 months.
I managed to dislocate my shoulder on a side booter. Hit a little like 2 foot cliff before it, got bucked the wrong way on a hard landing and caught my arm. Boom, out for 6 weeks. And my shoulder is still fucked, although I AM doing physio.
i have a record of hurting myself on skiing trips, while not skiing.
1.
at whistler for momentum a bunch of years back, the first hour that i jump/ trip down the stairs outside TMC. broken ankle.
2.
this past summer at whistler again, messing around at the park near the fitness centre, try to hurdle a tennis court nets, break one wrist and badly sprain the other.
3.
skateboarding back from the skatepark. slip randomly on a rock or something backwards and break my wrist. (when i was like 11)
4.
stop before a drop while biking to check it out. tip over slowly, break my ankle again.
5.
dislocate my shoulder, seperate it in two joints (AC and SC but the SC wasnt a full sep.), tear my rotater cuff, cause extensive muscle and soft tissue damage and come out of it with a clavicle that is backwards in my body, right, backwards, all from doing a front flip and having my knee hit my chest too hard.
sucks ass. so many bad injureis from so much dumb shit.
