so i'm looking around for bindings, and when i came to the reactors there's a question that i was asking myself - would you be able to just mount the toe and heel piece? cause from the pic below, it looks like you can just take the toe and heel pieces and mount them seperately without the plate thingus...

i think that you are thinking that the little silver piece on the toe and heel pieces is just the rotation point of the pieces not the mounting points i am nearly positive that you have to have the plate
can you get an s.t.d. from a polar bear?

most bindings have a small rise and it makes for quicker control from edge to edge you want a rise to a point.

You need the plate. the binding mounts through 4 holes in the middle, much like a snowboard binding would.

Fro what someone was telling me in another thread, the plate is essential for the binding to work properly. There are all sorts of widgets in there that you need. You might not even be able to remove the toe and heel pieces. Dont hold me to that though.



In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

the plate has a purpose.
of course risers aren't always good on freeride bindings, but the 4x4 Quickmount is the only reason i can thing of off the top of my head...i really can't think of it.

^ I just realized, that almost made them sound bad.
the plate has purpose, other wise Line wouldn't have put in on there.

I have them, and just like any other binding, you just have to get used to it. every improvement on the Reactor is just that- an IMPROVEMENT.

I think there is stuff under there that makes the toe and heel pieces move n'sync with each other.

as far as i know, alot of the TECH is in the riser, i mean theres one central din, so there has to be a link from heel to toe to make that din uniform, dont quote me...i dont WORK on the binding, but im 99 percent sure alot of working parts sit in the riser

oh yeah the center plate is what you bolt in and the toe and heel are attached to the plate so that they can have 1 din instead of 2 also so they can be more uniform in movment when saving your ACL

It's like a tiny amount of lift. If I can land 6+ airs on 60 mm carving skis with Look Nova Maxplates, I think we can all live with like, 4 mm of life.
