Anybody aware of why every online camera dealer is out of stock. Has the camera not been fully released yet? any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Typically any new relatively hyped up body release from Canon is widely available for a bit, then sold out for a while, then slowly gets restocked again. I couldn't find a 5D MkII anywhere when I was looking for one last fall but they eventually became available again.

Also, in case anyone had any doubts about the T2i, Popular Photography magazine (awesome mag IMO) just did an extensive review of the T2i and even gave it the title of best camera in its class. Good issue to pick up in case you're looking for a banger first DSLR that does video as well.

Handles: Glidecam 2000
You could also get a red rock kit that has a built in handle that is similar to a prosumer camera handle.

lenses: First lens you should get (after the kit if you go that way) should be a 50mm f/1.8. You can get one for like $100, its very sharp, useful, and great in low light. The next purchase after that all depends on what specifically you are going to be focusing on filming.

lenses are the exact same. t2i interface isn't half bad. 7D is WAY better for pictures, and has intermediate iso stops. Sure the 7D gives you more bang for more buck, but if you are looking for mostly video, the t2i is absolutely perfect, and you can use the difference to buy a lens or two.

i dont own either cameras, but for some reason i was under the impression that you can encounter some trouble with faster lenses on the t2i.... maybe not i guess

watch it buddy. I got mine for $730 because the person (a nice asian lady) didn't want to pay the restocking fee. I sold my old camera to someone on there too. Craigslist can be great.

I second that. I had an awesome experience buying my 5D MkII off of Craigslist as well.

Just be smart, do your homework, and use common sense. It's not like camera stores can't rip you off either...

the t2i is too light to use a glidecam. I used it probably 4 days on snow and it just doesnt work. Heavy duty tripods do the best imo.

It depends how you are going to be shooting.

If you want to do follow cams, look into a wide angle like the Tokina 11-16 f2.8. That will give you a sweet wide angle. Or, any of the Pelang/Zenitar/Bower 8mm fisheyes are good for follow cams. With video, a fisheye is a little more forgiving since your resolution is way down on what is being recorded. You dont need the sharpness of a lens you would use for stills.

He means as far as weight.  What arm were you using.  Belt?  Vest? Counterweights?  Which model of Glidecam.

There are many people using DSLR.s on Glidecams, its just a matter of knowing how to set it up.

just the 18-55mm kit lens.

it was a glidecam 1000pro.

It wasnt a matter of a balancing problem, i spent a lot of time getting it balanced correctly.

Its just overall easier to use a heavyduty tripod as a glidecam kind of thing because it adds more weight.
