in my opinion, there are the do-ers and the people that like to sit back and watch. and highschool college, or pretty much between the ages of 14-28 is where you see people transform into these types of people.
throughout the last 5 years of so, i have lost about 6 good friends, im not gonna blame it totally on drinking, but its a large part of it. when people started going to party's in like 8th and 9th grade, some people kept going, and party's were a weekly thing for some people, where some people maybe went to a couple party's a year. and now, the people who spent all their free time drinking or going to party's have almost fully transformed into the people who sit around and watch. alot of my friends who i used to ski with every weekend, now completely quit, they spend half the week getting drunk, they give me and my other friends shit when we don't want to party with them. and in general just have this really shitty attitude towards everything, like fuck going out and doing things, lets just rely on alcohol to make us happy. its like the most active part of their life is playing beer pong. its just fucking depressing.
now the people i still hang out with still drink, but not with the purpose of getting wasted, but more just because its a beverage that exists and they feel like drinking it. like we will have a couple drinks if we are staying around the house one night, just treating it like any other beverage. not getting shit faced and pissing on the floor, none of that shit, we dont go around to party's showing off how badass we are shotgunning beers and shit.
ive never enjoyed being drunk, thats why when i drink i dont have more than enough to give me a little buzz. if i want to feel good i go out and do something.
i just cant have any respect for people who rely on being in this dumbed down state of mind to be happy, if you cant be happy being yourself, then you have some problems and need to stop drinking to try and fix it.
