Of course, to loop this back to the original point of the thread somewhat, another big reason that prop 8 passed was the unexpectedly high latino turnout in the last election. If it weren't for all those Christian Hispanic immigrants, (who are now citizens) it probably never would have passed. I guess the real problem there though isn't immigrants, just organized religion.

we require people to speak and understand english to become a citizen, and you need to be a citizen to have a license
hiring people who speak 12 languages costs money, and you need to pay more because it is a special skill that not everyone has, so offering only english would save money

not trying to hate or sound like an asshole but what am i missing?

I think it is safe to say that none of us are in poverty right now.Im talking about pooooorrrr. The fact your using a computer with internet access and your on a skiing related website gives it away, no NS'er is truly poor. Poverty, before anything, is what needs to be tackled in the USA. Read Nickeled and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenriech. This book is about being poor. I think I can never say we should close off immigration to the united states because no one deserves to live like that. This country is too fucked up for me to wrap my head around

Found this on youtube, its obviously from one of those stupid bleeding heart liberal radio stations, but I thought it was pretty funny anyway. "Instead of dying in a firey car wreck you dipshit!" lol. I also thought it was funny that he pointed out the fact that people from Alabama actually barely speak English themselves because I did briefly think that when I was watching the commercial.

It had nothing to do with christian hispanic turnout - that was actually pretty small, seeing as the hispanic voting population-non voting population is the smallest ethnic voting population ratio out of almost all ethnic groups.

It had more to do with massive christian white + african-american turnout, and idiots who were dumb enough to believe the fucked up commercials, retards from utah protesting in the street posing as californians, and those who were dumb enough to think 'yes on prop 8' meant 'yes on gay marriage'

Whatever. its not a huge problem right now since they can just go to other states, get married, and then come back to california and they're still legally married - its more that the state cant recieve the money that it was getting from the mass influx of marriages performed in the state when it was legal. Tourism = moneh.
