hey guys, the uni ski club is thinking of setting up a rail session at our next bbq/function. Only catch is its summer over here .... we got rails, ramps, and around half a ton of ice shavings from a nearby rink.
anyone have any tips on making a in-run that would last in the heat?? it'll be around 20 C = around 70 F

damn try keeping it shaded...and if u can get an alternate surface like plastic or something for some of the inrun...thatll prolong ur snow stash

im told soapy carpet works...any big sheet of some kind of plastic should work..just gotta test it out first...see how it slides

soapy carpet huh ... i know plastic netting over grass works wonders, but there isnt a hill where we're at. Just a ramp and maybe some guys on motorbikes doing a tow in ....

yeah we got access to some hay bales too. Does salt help stop the snow from melting when its above freezing

salt freezes snow when it's + celcius.

salt freezes shit real well above C, like if u go to a summer camp and u see the racer camps, the guys run down the course salting the thing to ice it up and keep it from slush, just dont oversalt and have it be slushy. i would use snowfence, or carpet shit but i wouldnt reccomend a tow in on carpet or snowfence i mean dont do a tow in in the summer, ur just asking for broken bones and blood

just think about what do you throw down on your driveway or your steps to your house and why...salt? sand? it will melt the snow, if you don't put alot, the snow will melt alittle bit but refreeze its self, making it ice

I've done soapy carpet in my backyard for an inrun.. this works, but you needs a considerably steep hill in order to get speed. Plus it's a pain to continually wet and soap up the carpet after every couple runs. So, look for an alternative method like a sheet of plastic or a hay bail hill.
