anyone out there taking advantage the decennial census? 14.50 an hour for 8 weeks worth of work is pretty baller if you ask me. except the work kinda blows but so far i just cruise neighborhoods on my skateboard all day stopping off at houses and ringing doorbells. it only sucks when you can't find anybody there or the people there are duschebags and wont just fill that shit out. not that it makes any difference to me, i get paid whether they comply or not!

paraphrased: getting paid by uncle sam to skate around all day is dope. anyone else doin' it?

is there some kind of dress code for you? i feel like if you were just skateboarding around in normal street clothes and went up to someones house and asked them to fill out their census they would be a little weirded out.

i dont have to barge into anyones house, in fact i just know on the door or ring the doorbell. second, i'm not a huge socially awkward pussy so interaction with strangers isnt uncomfortable or scary whatsoever, it's pretty entertaining when people get all pissed off because id ont give a fuck. i get paid bank and if they're all pissed its mostly just funny. and most people don't actually mind that much, they're actually suprised that there are so few questions and that it takes way less time then they thought. lastly, i really hope i get shot because then i'll basically be hooked up for life by the government, not to mention i can sue the shit out of whoever shoots me for free becuase the government will back my case and the district attorney will be my lawyer so yep.

the only negative i see in the whole thing is the fact that they fingerprinted me, but it was bound to happen if i got arrested anyways so whatever.

did i mention that i get paid from the time i leave my house to the time i get home, and i get 50 cents for every mile i drive? oh yeah. that too.

not really a dress code, i have official gov't ID and a bag that says census on it and all types of official census forms. and if they doubt my credentials i can just have them call up the regional office to confirm that I am for real.

name an easier way to make 14.50 an hour at a legitimate job in maine and i'll come out to your shittly little new york town and suck your balls bud. and you don't really know me so how can you say i'm a dusche? i'm working 2 other jobs along with this census to try and get enough money to move out to utah and ski? is there a problem with somone wanting to make as much money as possible in one summer so they can pursue a dream all fellow ns'ers have (to ski epic powder all day)? whose the douche?

one of my little brothers freinds moms told me about it. they hire pretty much anybody but its only every 10 years and its only 8 weeks but yeah. its nice pay even if i work 20 hours a week at it i'll still have 2 grand by the end of june which is WAY beyond what my goal was to save up for manifest destiny. plus i just skate around all day and get good exercise its nice.

i respect other peoples wishes too. i have yet to press someone to give me the information, and i'm just doing my job trying to get paid. its not a big deal and technically they're required to comply with it. if you actually knew anyting about what it's for you might understand a little better. we could not have a census every 10 years and millions of people could have 8 weeks less work in there wallets and less food on their tables. we could also not have properly apportioned representation in the government because we dont know how many people live where. we could also waste 5 times more money than we already do by overallocation state and federal funding for social programs that help people less fortunate than your rich new york ass feed there kids and put clothes on their backs. i'd say your pretty retarded when you think about it. yeah the fed sucks, but its the way it is and some anti-goverment scrawny ass white kid from new york aint gonna change shit about that. in fact, nobody really is because they control everything. might as well go with it because fighting it just makes it worse and even more fucking lame and less efficeint.

I just have to say that anyone who gets annoyed about the census is a moron. The census isn't some door to door security system sales force, its an innocent and not terribly intrusive survey that provides incredibly valuable information, but only works if people participate.

There is no reason to respect someones wish to not participate in the census, it's their fault for not doing it already.

and also, if more americans realized that it was there tax dollars, they'd probably be less eager to waste that money by wasting my time when i'm out there. people don't understand just cuz you tell me you don't want to do it doesnt mean i'm going to stop. i'm required to keep coming back until i get the information from you or at the very least a basic headcount from a neighbor or other knowledgeable respondent. oh well, its not like we're not the most wasteful country in the world as it is. I guess we can let yet even more waste slide.

Learn to spell. And second, legitimate jobs don't even really count under the table. Which would hook you up pretty easily without the taxes even at a lower rate, but you could still make the same or higher. And who needs a legitimate job. I'm doing painting for 15 under all summer, not bad working with friends and listening to music.

But the easy  easy stuff is far easy enough to be worth the lack of legitimacy. And yes, I said easy 3 times right there

i was simply stating that making 14 dollars an hour to skateboard around all day and do a little bit of doorbell ringing on the side really isnt bad, and was inquiring whether or not anyone else was taking advantage of such an opportunity. I began to get defensive after you blatantly attacked my position on the matter multiple times with brash anti-goverment statements and ignorant arguments about how retarded I am. really I don't give a shit about the census or properly allocating government funding or senate representation. I was just defending my means of making a living as you were attacking it. completley justifiable. I said this early but i don't think you picked up on it, I'm just trying to bank enough loot to move out west. and skating all day isnt a bad way to do that. good day.

I work for the government in the summer. My local city government by being a maintenance employee. And you would think with being a member of the city team you would get decent equipment. NOPE, chainsaw barely works and the damn spikes to climb the tree are almost 20 years old and dull as fuck.

its funny i work for a local park district. its one of the premier park districts in the nation in terms of how its run, gets its funding, etc. we have park departments from all over the country come and find out how we do it.

needless to say, we have nothing but the best in EVERYTHING.

seriously, they picked up a new toolcat for this upcoming season. a new E ride electric vehicle, and another Kubota. and thats only at one park.


the amount of money they piss away is astounding.
