My aunt and uncle who live in texas where up here for my moms wedding, and invited me to come down and visit for a few weeks. Of course i'm going to go, they're loaded.     But anyways, anyone know any fun attractions/ things to do in houston to be exact.  aha

How old are you?

I work down here, and I personally don't mind it, because a) I can choose where to live, which is a pimp place close to fun and action, b) the weather is epic hot... (97 today)....so you can just chill in the pool all day with beers... c) super hot chicks.... and d) it's a super international city and diverse (unlike other texas cities!).. i'm british, but i think i can count on one hand out of all my friends, who is actually from here... oh and it's cheap! Great Restaurants and bars, great live music...

Dont spend much time at the beach (This city is enormous, and getting round is really hard without a car....).

Oh and deffo go check out NASA, it's pretty sick.

houston is sick, I think its the 4th biggest city in the country so it will have pretty much everything. I was only there for one night but it was cool and theres lots of huge tits everywhere

alright, well i'm 16, i'll be 17 by summer. So bars are out of the question, I'll have a car for the few weeks i'm there most likely.  NASA seems sick, thanks man.  i completly forgot what i was going to reply too know because it didn't let me quote you aha.

When the results of the census come out, Houston will probably be the 3rd biggest city in the US overtaking Chicago - because it's freakin massive and huge influx of people from all over the states / world...

It's also the Breast Augmentation capital of the world.... no shit..

hmm being only 16 and coming in the summer? i dunno man i might reconsider unless your relatives have a ridiculous house with a crazy awesome pool in a neighborhood filled with hotass highschool girls. (definitely possible though)

i now live in austin, which is much more livable than houston in my opinion. its not a sprawled out mess like houston. if you are going in the summer brace yourself for insane HEAT AND HUMIDITY. It gets hot as fuck here in austin and it's much less humid than houston. houston is a sticky inferno. i see you are canadian, which means you have no idea what real heat is. ontario doesn't count although I bet its humid there.

also houston isn't cowboy. it's more southern than cowboy, but its actually quite diverse except for the rich suburbs which are obviously white.

well, apperntly they're pretty well off, like i mean, his house is absolutly redic, and well a super sick pool that i will never ever afford. he's an enginer for some oil company in aruba (Sp?)        haha

i'm from houston. def go to galveston at least once, go to a some astros game theyre a blast.east lots of mexican food cause itll be some of the best youll ever had. i would say make friends with some locals cause especially at your age the best things to do are chill in someones backyard and drink beer and smoke and swim during the hot summer days

Do you know where their house is? The neighbourhood - this makes a difference as to what there is to do...

and yeah - it's Heat like you'll of never known before... im british, trust me.... it was 97 today, and felt like nothing compared to the 109 it hits in august! I remember walking home from bars hammered last may, and at 3am, it's still 100 degrees... then you get in the pool and it feels like a hot tub.... and im not exagerating.... epic heat... but it means all the chicks are wearing hee haw...

yea thats where the money's at. plus houston is cheaper than hell so you can afford a gigantic place for next to nothing.

i don't know if you are religious but a shitload of texans are. there are churches fucking everywhere. my advice would be to go to church there. i can promise you that you will meet a bunch of ridiculously hot texas girls there. classy ones your age too. everybody in texas is super nice so if you just play the "i'm from out of town (canada no less, how exotic), you are bound to meet some prime 16 yr olds. haha ohh man. i don't know how else you'll meet people your age there unless they are neighbors or you just go trolling at the mall. just cause they love jesus doesn't mean they don't wanna get down so you should be golden. make nice with their parents and you are in. you'll probably go to hell for going to church just to meet chicks but oh well. you could potentially have some excellent stories to take back home after a summer of top notch texas tail. kinda makes me wanna be in highschool again actually HA.

well i mean, i dont consider myself intense into religion, or really giving a shit.   But I do know enough that I would be able too pull it off to people, that i do give a shit. I mean it wouldn't be too hard.    Just through 'eh' into every other sentence.   Although, i think i'd get shot down by lighting going to church to meet girls.

I live in Houston.

You're going to want to swim alot, its fucking hot. What else can you do? Fucking not much. Check out the museums, rosco chapel, the manil, etc. Galveston, sure, if you have low standards for beaches. Im not sure when you're here but check out jambase.com to see if anyone you would like to see will be in houston. Eat mexican and bbq, because you wont get much better anywhere else.

And going to a church is actually a good idea. Not to pick up chicks though haha, you might but i seriously doubt it. But second baptist on voss or lakewood church are fucking HUGE. It would be pretty interesting to see what the fuck goes on in there. Lakewood used to be a nba basketball stadium (or wmba).

moving to houston shortly. any other info would be helpful. im pretty much buying a house off the internet without even knowing the geographical area/transportation routes which might not be good. what areas are the best in houston? suburb areas and such, inner city, names of that kind of things? like what are the outer limits split up to and called? and where is the best place to live in outer limits but not quite suburbs?
BUD SITUATION??
everyone ive met from texas ive sold 8ths for upwards of 70 bucks when they go on vacation up here and they dont seem to mind so thats not very comforting since im moving there.
i hate guns/religion, even beer sometimes. i know, i know, why the fuck am i moving there... long story. but houston isnt all religious, churchy, family, american, christ, tweens is it?
whats winter like? even though ill be in CO for most of it, just wondering.

yep houston is definitely like that. especially in the burbs. unfortunately the entire city is basically a suburb. but houston is a very diverse city with excellent food once you find it. its cheap as fuck there, but i don't know the city enough to recommend you an area to live. Check out city-data.com maybe. overall the city pretty much blows, austin is the only place to live in Texas in my opinion. But you can live a good life in Houston cause it's so cheap and there a shitton of jobs.

bud situation is pretty weak, at least in austin. i'm guessing its much worse in Houston. Texas has professional drunk drivers, but having weed in your car is seen as a big deal. And unless you grow it or know somebody that grows it expect to pay at least 60 bucks for an 8th no matter what. its pretty ridiculous. Luckily I have a friend that grows.

Winters last 2 months basically December-January. Austin winter days are similar to spring CO days. It's usually dry and has highs in the 60s. The temp drops a lot at night into the 40s and high 30s. I suspect Houston maintains a more moderate temp since its much more humid than Austin. However there are always a couple random cold snaps that last a couple days. The cold is much more biting than it is in CO due to the humidity. Oct-Nov & Feb-April the weather is usually fantastic. The rest of year its HOT. May and June are okay but come August and September, BRACE yourself. Houston makes even Austin seem chilly. I prefer the Texas heat to the shitty cold depressing weather in the midwest and east coast. Cause it still gets hot as fuck there in the summer too. CO weather is pretty much impossible to beat except in Southern California so unfortunately there's nowhere to go but down.

Dude - hit me up - I live here, downtown (well inside the loop - 610 loop).... which is where you need to be.... the heights is pretty cool, but i live right on Westheimer, close (walking distance even) to a shit tonne of amazing bars, clubs, venues and restaurants.

It's a city where you will earn $$.... and it's pretty cheap - you'll be suprized at the $$ here... I live near River Oaks, which is a more expensive zip code then beverly hills....

Seriously though, i don't mind it at all.... I work here, live here and have great friends here - most are from all over America / World.... im British, and havr a great Social Network at my Apartment building etc. You need to be in the mix of things though, inside the loop.... otherwise everywhere is fucking miles from everywhere.

In Winter, I spend most weekends in CO too - but that's because it's super straight forward to get ANYWHERE in the world from Houston.... daily flights to every cool place going, direct..... Alaska, Hawaii, Singapore, Paris, London, LA, NYC, PNW.... plus, once you get out west towards Austin and Beyond, the scenery becomes epic - some awesome Mtn biking trails.... and lakes...

Winter is ok - pretty mild, although can get cold and snow once in a blue moon if you get cold winds coming down through new mexico.... but from March onwards, it's epic.... today is fucking through the roof hot but that's when you just fill a cooler and hang out in the pool with everyone and get smashed....

There are worse places to be - lots of Theatres, museums, galleries, JOBS!, money, hot chicks, international people.... I actually quite like it, cheaper and better pace of life and better weather then london that's fo sho!

word, thanks guys. good to know theres jobs and skrilla there. humble or spring is where im looking currently but it all depends on how this mortgage works out. ill definitely hit you up man but the mortgage process is slow so it may be 6 months or so.
