and if i understand what you are trying to accomplish correctly, try using the lasso tool and delete everything cept the logo itself. or if the background is a solid color, you can use the magic something tool and highlight everything of that color to delete it
Use the Lasso tool or Magic Wand to select the object that you want to be the one thing that remains in your document after you apply the Inverse function. Choose "Inverse" from the "Select" menu to inverse your selection. Now, the rest of the image is selected excluding the original object that you excluded. Using the option bar at the top of the screen, set your feather to the desired pixel amount between 0 and 250. The higher the number, the more feathered the remaining object will be. Check the anti-alias option on the option bar to smooth the edges of the inverse selection. Press your delete key on your keyboard. The background should now be gone and you should only have your original selected object.
