Right now, NS is starting to enter into the toughest time of the year, summer. Emotions run high, trolls emerge from hibernation, aliases are made, and there is only one small, elite group of NS'ers that have the power to keep the chaos in check. Those are the mods. I know that NS admins and mods have taken heat in the past for letting stuff get too out of control or not jumping on aliases, trolls, inappropriate posts, or pointless threads fast enough, and I too have jumped on that bandwagon and made those accusations. When things start getting crazy on NS (usually NSG) and something doesn't get taken care of right away, people are quick to say that the mods suck and aren't doing their jobs.
In reality, I think that they are doing the best they can, there are just only so many of them to go around. I have come to really appreciate the mods and what they do. Keep in mind, they aren't paid and they are on this site for the same reason that rest of us are which is to talk, watch, see, and hear about all things skiing. Anytime that I see a thread, post, or member that is out of line, I usually let a mod know and all of them are quick to respond and get rid of the problem. Leaving the forums and the community as a whole, that much better off.
In conclusion, I think a lot of people on here should learn to better appreciate the mods and what they do. They have a pretty thankless job and I think do their best to keep the site free of clutter and in order. So raise a glass to the mods, the all powerful but often forgotten members that keep life good for us average NS'ers.
