not necessarily hero snow. the chamoix event that candide won was like 25cms of blower pow on top of bulletproof ice, the squaw event looked pretty cruddy to me and the verbier xtreme has had good snow for like 1 of the last 5 years. the difference is the size of the field- it's like 48 riders as opposed to hundreds, so the course doesn't become a mogul field.
as for the peaks being peaks "nobody gets to ski"... bullshit. there is no such thing as out of bounds in europe so anyone can ski the faces. in the case of the bec de rosses in verbier, they might just choose not to because it's insanely gnar.
the field is made up of some riders that qualify from the freeride world qualifying series (FWQS) and some that are invited (e.g. Candide).Basically the Nissan (freeride) is a far superior tour in terms of level than the Subaru (freeskiing). The faces are a million times bigger and more committing (mostly because many of the event are in europe, the riders are of a much higher level in terms of depth of field (and in terms of outright class) and it is actually a WORLD tour with events in Russia, France, USA and Switzerland. until this year where the subaru tour added a chile event, it was just a north american thing. How they called it a world tour was beyond me.
so yeah, Nissan (freeride) > Subaru (freeskiing).
