comparing urban to surfing? really?! the closest thing skiing has to surfing is skiing first descents, in avalanche prone conditions.

The big wave stuff has always been among the most impressive feats a human is capable of to me. But other types of surfing have always been pretty unwatchable. The newer school of dudes actually spinning and grabbing their boards is changing that though. Check the edit.

Surfers have been doing airs and grabs for awhile now. I surf in NJ, which I wouldn't exactly consider a hot spot of the latest, greatest surfers, but people have been able to do those things for awhile even around here. Getting air on a surfboard takes a lot more practice than on skis. You could probably huck it off a jump after not skiing for very long (hell, a lot of skiers do) but I've been surfing for years and I still can't land an air.
