Marijuana and Dominican Republic

Hey guys, goin to dominican in a few days and I would really enjoy smoking weed and going on the beach since for me mary jane > alcohol. I've heard it's super strict there but has anyone had any experiences with buying/smoking there? I don't want to get thrown in a sketchy dominican prison.

ya ive heard its shit there, already booked my trip cause thats where all of my best friends are going. I have contemplating dripping hash oil on cigarettes but after further inspection found out drug dogs can smell that still.

heres what you do: buy some peanut butter. scoop out a couple spoonfuls so that theres room in the jar for a sack, however much you wanna bring to the Dominican. put the sack in there, then cover it with the peanut butter you just scooped out. dogs cant smell a bag when its encased in peanut butter, so then just pack the jar into your carry-on bag with some other food so its not suspicious (not that it really would be anyway), and presto! weed in tropical paradise.

Trust me its by far the most legit way to fly your weed. it sounds sketchy to fly weed across the boarder, but i would rather do that then look for dirt weed in the sketchy parts of the dominican. be careful tho man, make sure that the peanut butter completely seals your weed. i've never had any trouble at all flying this way, and i have gone by dogs, but i've never flown weed across the boarder. let me know how it goes!

ya i could do that... or i could enjoy myself 100x more. for many people alcohol increases there fun, for me its weed, alcohol just depresses me usually. My best friends are all hardcore drinkers and im sure im going to drink a lot but i'd like some downtime while im there where i can just light up a fatty and enjoy the beautiful scenery

ya iv bought weed in the dominican it was crappy weed but decently easy to find and easy to keep on the down low. the law is strict and just asking the wrong person could land you in dominican prison. i found it easy (i was in punta cana) but im warning you that i had a good experience with weed there but your experience may be different.

i am the same way: weed>alcohol.  just take a break from herb while you are there.  drink some margaritas or pina coladas and smoke some nice cigars on the beach.  

dont waste your time buying weed there.  the weed sucks, buying it is pretty sketchy and most of the time they will try and scam you. 

when i go i just booze it up.  i only miss the herb in the mornings for my hangovers but it aint that bad.

all you gotta do is have a buddy get past security before you and get to the gate. Tell him to scope shit out, and if he doesn't see any dogs, just bring the weed right through security. If there are dogs, then leave your weed in the car. Trying to buy weed in another country, as easy as it may or may not be, has the possibility of being sketch as fuck. You never know if you are dealing with a legit dealer, a cop, or some guy trying to rip off, blackmail, or in some other way fuck with an tourist that he clearly knows has money.

PS, yeah dogs can smell the hash oil just like they can smell pot, but if you know where to find hash oil, bring that instead. It is smaller, easier to hide, and all around fucking awesome.

PPS: the peanutbutter idea is horrible, even if it would prevent dogs from smelling it, both your carry on and your luggage go through x ray machines, and you better believe that security will check out a random jar that they see, because they don't know if it is peanut butter or plastic explosives. It is especially sketch on an international flight, where you have to go through customs, which does not allow you to bring food, especially open food, to other countries.

Last post script, I promise: Bring LSD if you are into that sort of thing. Tasteless and odorless, and you can put it right into your wallet. LSD on the beach has the potential to be fun as fuck.

haha ya not into that kind of thing, but thanks for the tips. I think my best bet would be to bring a pack of cigars, one cigar with hash oil dripped right down the center. I feel like it would be hard to get caught that way, especially if the cigars were 'wrapped' and put in my luggage and not my carry on.

nah, not a good call. Sending in a buddy as a scout first is much better, because then you can know whether or not there are dogs past security. If you did it your way, there would be no telling whether or not there are dogs that will sniff your luggage. Once you get whatever you are bringing past security, you can just put it in your pocket.

As a matter of fact, even if you didn't send a friend to scope out the situation, your best bet is still carrying it with you on the plane, because I have never seen a dog in the airport, but I know that they are there, and it is much easier to have them sniff every luggage bag than every person that makes it past security, so I would be willing to bet that there are dogs past where you check your luggage. The only thing that you MUST do if you plan on bringing some hash oil with you is to make sure that the cap of the little vial of hash oil is NOT metal. if it is plastic, put that shit in your belly button with a bandaid and you are set. If it is metal, then put the oil into cigarettes.

And I lied, there is one other thing that you MUST do: make fucking sure that before you go through the metal detectors you have removed any metal that will set it off. If your belt or phone sets it off, you are gunna get searched, and you are fucked.

sparknotes:
1.-have anything illicit on your body, not your carryon and NOT your luggage (a tiny ass vial of hash oil will look sketch as fuck on an x-ray).
2.- don't have anything in your bag that customs won't allow through (open food, and other stuff like that), or you may get searched
3.-Don't have any metal on your illicit substance, or you may get searched
4.- don't have any metal on yourself when you go through the detector, or you WILL get searched
5.- If you do get through security, and then you happen to see a dog walking around, calmly go to the nearest bathroom and ingest your hash oil and have a fantastic flight
6.- last and MOST IMPORTANT: assuming you get your product to your hotel without any problems, don't smoke it anywhere stupid where you will get caught, foreign jail would suck.

ive got fucking screws in my leg, there's no way i could ever get past the metal detectors without complications.

ive never flown before, but for the sending in a buddy idea, how do you know there wont be dogs when you get off the plane?

my personal best way to get weed on a plane in in a stick of deoderant. cant be the gel kind, has to be solid. Open it, twist the thing until the deoderant cake falls out. Stuff your week into the plastic casing, under the tray that holds the deoderant, then just twist the cake of deoderant back on and cap it, put it with your toothbrush and shit. Voila.

That works pretty well, another dec one is get a pack of those fat scented markers then pull out the felt strips so they're just empty and put chron in there then just cap your markers.

pretty bold statement right there and, as it happens, an incorrect one. sure, like anywhere, there are areas of the DR which are sketchy, not very picturesque or whatever. but equally there are other parts ( I spent 2 months travelling around the coast around Cabarete) which are fucking beautiful. Beautiful beaches, friendly locals, great surf etc. Seriously the Dominican kids we surfed with every day were among the friendliest, most stoked locals I've ever come across. Maybe open your eyes, and more importantly your mind next time you travel. If anything, the only thing I found unappealing about the DR were the Americans on holiday there.

and as for this thread... drug smuggling tips over the internet? beyond retarded.

Yo man, I've never been to the Dominican Republic. However, I've been around to a lot of different places smoking weed and have never had a hard time in any country finding it, especially in touristy areas.

What you want to do is make it obvious that you would like to purchase some weed. Wear a t shirt or a hat with a weed leaf on it, or just generally look like a stoner. There really isn't much looking for it, but just walk around and eventually there is a good chance someone will offer you some. Alternatively I've also purchase/been given some (one time was given literally enough to last me my whole 4 month trip) by just random people that I meet. Some of the best weed I ever smoked was given to me by this rug salesman in New Delhi. Pretty much just meet people. Errrryone smokes weed lol.

Dunno about Dominican republic but in a couple places I've been its much, much easier to get hashish than actual green weed.

As for the police just remember if you do get in trouble that you should ALWAYS try to bribe the officer because in a lot of foreign places it is really, really, really easy and you have like a 90% chance of succeeding.

The problem is, I've been to 65 percent of the larger Caribbean islands. Aruba, Jamaica, Dominican Republic. All the little islands in and around the USVI and BVI's. Curacao, Bonaire, the Grenadines, Turks and Caicos, Trinidad and Tobago not to mention, Monserrat, Antigua and Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, lived in Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis and Saba and St. Barths as well as St. Maarten and Marie Galante and Dominica. Point is, there's not many places I haven't been and I feel I'm qualified to say that the Dominican republic sucks, I just think there are better places in the Caribbean that are just as accessible.


As far as great Caribbean islands go, I'd say Saba simply because it looks like an evil genius' lair or something. The plane ride in is the sketchiest fucking thing ever, but it's absolutely breathtaking.

Dominican Republic is actually much more accessible than many Caribbean islands. For people from England/Europe the Dominican Republic is a very common vacation spot (sort of like our Mexico), and you can get pretty cheap easy travel deals.

Most of the islands I've been to in the Caribbean involved a commercial flight to Puerto Rico, and then another flight in a little cessna thing to one of the larger islands, and then a multiple day sailing trip to the island itself (which doesn't have an airstrip). So like, if you don't have a boat, you couldn't even get there at all. So IDK really what you are talking about.

I know there's a direct flight from Copenhagen to St. Thomas, as well as to St. Croix. From there you can go pretty much anywhere in the US or British Virgin Islands. Most any island worth visiting has SOME sort of airstrip. Even backwater shitholes like Vieques do IIRC. The Caribbean is incredibly accessible for how spread out it is.


I do not and will never understand the attraction of the Dominican Republic and Cuba, they both just don't do it for me. There's just something missing.

haha thanks a lot guys. my boss overheard me talking to one of my co-workers and she was like nononono don't smuggle anything in and proceeded to tell me a horror story about someone she knew who did that and got caught and sent back so that pretty much turned me off of bringing anything. I think im just going to take some of your advice and look like a stoner, which isnt hard because well... i do look like a stoner haha. big ups.karma to this thread
