its the same material, just a different color in both those pictures.

I'm pretty sure the camo ones were the "first draft" so only a few samples are out there. I've only seen the black ones in person. Either way it's the same material, and you're not even going to see the grip when you're holding it, so it really doesn't matter.

the best thing to do to customize those poles is use roadbike handlebar tape... i would use the gel tape
