So NS, I know by now you're thinking, "why another stupid thread asking where to go to college?" But I really have no idea what to do. Before you call me out, i have read just about every thread on here about college, in addition to spending a lot of time thinking using independent resources.

I am currently living in Seattle, Washington and go to Garfield High School. I seem to be interested in economics and/or business, but I'm not really sure yet, I'm open to anything (except pre-med). I am a good student, I have a 3.9, study a lot, hopefully will do well on the SATs (June 5th!). So, I am really just asking for your help. My parents are getting on me about college, and where I want to go, etc. My brother is going to Berkeley next year and is majoring in Computer Science.

I would like to narrow down colleges so that there's at least a place to ski close, it doesn't have to be amazing. So far, I plan to rule out Colorado (not strong enough academics, disagree with me all you want). I don't especially want to go to UW (Washington) because I can see the campus from my house, but it's most definitely a viable option.

Really I would just like you to give me a little jumpstart, if you will... That would be extremely appreciated. Learning from others and their decisions (whether good or bad will help so much).

For those that care, I will give karma for good answers and those that deserve it.

it's D1 sports if youre into that or planing on playing a sport. other wise its a great school its on my number 1 to go to so far. better scholarship money than uvm and close to home

I know I'm a freshman and all but it's almost decided that im going to Colorado College cause my parents went there and we know a ton of people there. From what I've studied up on about it seems like a great school that's fun as well, and it has a good lacrosse team. That probably did not help at all haha.

In addition to UC Davis previously mentioned, I would like to add Nevada (UNR) to your list. It is 30 - 45 minutes to the north Lake Tahoe resorts, which include Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Mt. Rose, and a few smaller ones.

The student body is a little over 17,000. It's classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a high-research-activity university, one of 100 schools nationwide in that designation. While It's academics are respected, realistically, they aren't up to par with USC. However, five of the programs are in the top 100 according to some reports. I'm in a master's program there, which Business Week ranked 21st in its poll. Plus, if you establish residency, it's among the cheapest public universities out there. Anyways, it's hard to beat going to school this close to Tahoe. A comparable school would be the U of U.

You've got to be joking. CC is the best school in CO, well that's not taking into account the air force academy, but that's on the opposite end of the spectrum.

You're citing some website that is essentiatly one big advertisement for for-profit online schools. It's number 1 recommended school is University of Phoenix. You sound you like you go to DU and are trying to rationalize the 50k spent a year.

Judging by what? SATs, GPA, extra curriculars, overall aptitude, quality of teachers, funding, quality of research, etc., then yes, it is. Not everyone wants an engineering degree, yes, thats associated with a higher income, but that doesn't make Mines better than CC. Enjoying depressing as fuck Golden with no girls, it's not like CC ones are any better though. In the end we are arguing about schools in CO, they really aren't that great anyway.

Whatever bitter boy, I already got my degreezz and I had a great time at Mines. And to set the record straight Golden is tight as shit and Colorado school are very good.
