Alright all signed up to go to windells, checkin out flights to see what will work and BOOM report card comes in the mail. I got a 79 in math, 80 in chemistry, and 82 in global. My dad cancelled windells right on the spot. And now to taunt me windells just put in two dry slopes with rails, boxes and a bag jump right on the campus! Dont forget about the 2 tow-ropes and the complete and utter awsomeness of windells.

Im soooo pissed off i cannot even believe this just happened

maybe make a deal with your dad?
windells, for summer school maybe.
show him that you are serious about going, and that if he is worried about your academics, you are willing to go the extra mile. maybe even go as far as suggesting community college classes on weekends during the fall?

my parents are like that too. my older sister was a PERFECT student, never got anything below a high A. i mean, to record she doesn't have a grade lower than a 96 percent.



sucks to live up to it. but maybe if you show some motivation, they will be a little lenient.

and it's never too early to start preparing for next summer...

Im trying to pull the guilt trip as of now because this is the first quarter that i slipped up so i keep bringing that up and so far they havent found out that i drink yet so unlike my sisters who suck at hiding it i say "im a good kid, i dont drink or smoke so why am i getting punished"

and im payin for it so i feel they shouldnt restrict me on what i can and cant do with my money

How old are you? Just asking for reference of being able to make your own decisions and such. 15 or younger I'd say your parents have a right to not letting you fly across the country alone for a week, but maybe at 16 and more so 17, you should probably still get to go if you are paying your own way.

OP, how can you say "my fucking luck" when you knew how you were doing in your classes and could have worked harder to do better.  It's not bad luck, it's stupidity.

Except you need your parents consent. It might be easier to convince them to let you go to windells than to have adult rights early.

it depends on what household/what norm you come from

in my family that would most certainly keep me from going to windells...that and the fact that i would never go to windells

my parents will be mad but look the other way if i have a bunch of 90's high 80's and like one 83, but 3 grades that low and there's an obvious lack of effort

it entirely depends on what kind of expectations and standards you are raised in. i go to a school where 33 percent of students skip 3 or more days of school a week. guess what the class average is in my academic grade 10 math class is?

44%

inner city schools are depressing.

maybe you should have worked harder. It's not like your grades were "boom," you know, generally, what kind of shit you were going to pull out of those classes long before you get them (especially in high school where it is damn near impossible to blow a class too hard on one thing). And if there was an ultimatum on grades, which I think is appropriate, then by all means he should have cancelled that shit. When I was 15 turning 16 I was going to a month of mountaineering provided I pull a certain average for grades and did house work, and it was a breeze.

I assume you are in high school and if so than wow you are an idiot...math and chemistry are pretty damn easy.

If you are in college, which I doubt, than it depends on the chem and math you take but still it's pretty easy to get a B with just a little bit of studying.

maybe yours is.

i go to an "inner city school" (garfield) but it is easily the best public school and rivaled with one private school (lakeside) for best school in seattle. no doubt about it.

although there are people like that that skip class, smoke weed, and kick it... there are people like me, and those that i associate with (for the most part) that are extremely high achieving. not saying that the OP isn't, but a lot of it comes from inner drive as well as drive from parents. i agree a lot with what no steeze said.

let me put this into consideration:

my grades are constantly updated and published onto the source, a seattle public school thing that shows all of your grades. if i don't get X grade on my test/essay/whatever, say goodbye to skiing that weekend. i'm glad my parents force me to work hard, but of course i'm pissed i have to miss out on stuff every once in a while. over the course of the next two weekends i will be studying for APs and the SAT hard. I have to miss West Coast Sessions at Hood because of it, but hopefully it'll pay off. There's always WCS next year.

so OP, get your grades up, show your parents how hard you can work. stay in this friday and saturday night and study for APs if you have any, or other tests coming up in classes. stay after school and get extra help from your teachers, or ask for extra practice problems to get ready for test. although that seems gay (it is, trust me) it'll make your parents a lot more pleased with your attitude.


anyway, i hate to sound like your mom, but i want you to go to windells too. i know it's super dope, and i've had a lot of friends go. so, work hard, show them you're really striving to get those grades up, and i bet you can please them enough to let you go.

If you were planning on paying for everything anyways, I would just say fuck and go. On the day of your flight, write your parents a note and have a friend drop you off at the airport. What's the worse that could happen? They cancel your trip to Windells? Oh wait they already did that. If they were paying for the trip, then obviously this could not work. But since you are paying for everything, just go and have the best week of your life and then take what ever punishment your parents have in store for you when you return. Yes they will be mad, but as long as you tell them that you went to Windells, they won't think that you went missing.

i should have been more specific when i said "inner city". i know i might sound racist, but i am basically the minority in my school. a huge percentage of the school's students come from struggling families in a very deprived area of my city. Its notoriously one of the worst schools in the Greater Toronto Area for drug and violence issues. Its all about the demographic of the surrounding communities, that basically determines the grade levels....

However, the art program is actually one of the best in the public system. it actually rivals private and secondary schools. There is an entire building dedicated to it in fact, which proves your point about how inner city schools can obviously no doubt sustain outstanding high achievers.
(How did i end up there? lets just say i didnt have any choice..)

dope about art! my school has a great jazz and music program.

quincy jones and jimi hendrix went to garfield, so they probably have a lot to do with it. haha
