so pretty much what the title says. some guys think they have found the ark. but they dont even think that its kinda unrealistic that the sea level was around 13,000 ft higher as it is now AND has no other evidence anywhere else, but who cares, its written in the bible.

inb4 some christian declares the bible as historic accurate and godly inspirated.

And I think you are trying to think of the words 'degrade' and 'you're.'

I didnt read shit in this thread, but considering the story of noahs ark and the flood was probably a rendition of an older oral story from the region. hell, gilgamesh has a story just like it, and there is another epic out of the levant that mentions it, too. So while it might not have been, as somebody said in the first 5 posts, a 13000ft increase in sea level, just a catastrophic flood in that area that lived through oral tradition and was adopted by other groups.

Well technically its Armenia. Even in the bible it says noah's ark landed on mt. ararat which was located in Armenia at the time...

word up man. as a freshman i actually had to do a project about different religions and their "flood stories." basically, christianity is chock-full of plagiarism, along with most other organized religion.

did you not read what I said with any kind of comprehension? What I said did not defend the bible in any way, it was more of a retort of sorts to all the dipshits who tout "omg its all make believe" or something. All my premise was that the story probably had some rudimentary ties to older tales of oral tradition, many of which are rooted in some kind of reality/historical event. The actual story in genesis... well I can't believe any of it.

To put your faith in what humans have observed is foolish because Scientific observations change every day. I understand you dont rule out the possibility of a Creator, but if Christianity isnt true then what is the meaning of life?  Living life and then dying and ceasing to exist is a pretty scary way to live. And is truth relative to whatever you want to make out for yourself?  All of these questions are difficult to answer without religion which is why I find Atheism a bigger leap of faith than believing there is a Supreme Being up above

I'm not scared of death because I know when I die that I'm going to Heaven to meet Jesus....Let me ask you this, what do you have to lose by believing that Jesus died on the cross? Based on your post I would assume that you believe that you cease to exist when you die. In that case let's say you were wrong and Christianity is true, then you get to go to Heaven. Basically what im trying to say is that if you believe Christianity is true you get to go to Heaven, if its not true then nothing happens when you die and its no different than what you believe now....So I dont see a real reason not to believe

Im a Christian and im not trying to hate, but you dont automatically get into heaven if believe in Jesus Christ. It's called judgment day. He decides, depending on how you lived your life, if you make it into heaven or not. Just wanted to point that out.

You dont get into heaven by what you have done on earth because everyone sins, It is God who does the saving, not how many good works we have performed for others on earth

According to St. Augustine in "The Confessions," he claims that there is nothing that humans can to to make it to heaven; either we have the grace of God or we don't. He also says that the number of ppl that receive grace is probably very small.

Good thing I'm not a Christian.

You can believe what you want but the Bible was written over 1500 years by over 40 different authors all conveying One consistent message, not only that the Bible contains amazingly precise historical events and aligns with outside sources....No other book has been so heavily picked apart and dissected yet has held solid to every attack....God gives us the choice to believe what we want but I will ask you this one last question, If a Divine Creator didn't make us in his image then how did we get here today?, who or what is responsible for everything we call the universe around us?
