I loved canada's edit it was so fun, but imo norway or newschoolers should have taken first. But really I couldnt care less, every video was fucking bangin this year.

After seeing the video, I can say that Canada's video definitely was worth first place. Were other video's just as good, maybe better in some regards? yes, but in the end Canada won, and it's not that big of a deal. Please stop beating the dead horse.

They got it right.  Team Canada was the best.  I have watched the Macarena Chug at least 10 times already and it gets funnier every time I watch it.   That is now my favorite edit of all time.  Congrats to Ian, TJ and Justin.   They flat out rule!

that video was a major let down. did they even have urban? the songs were horrible. Americas was ten times better. my face prolly looked just like simons after watching that. dont get me wrong it was good. just not great.

No idea why they got so butthurt over losing.

Skiing is about having FUN with your FRIENDS which is exactly what team Canada's video displayed. I am glad they used different music, different style of editing, and just showed the fun side of skiing and showed how ski edits should be...About having FUN...not getting all butthurt because you didn't win JOSS and than be a sore loser about it and release your edit early and not coming back next year. Seems like a bitch out from Team America to me.

Good point, next year they should all just have fun, not do any urban or anything. Maybe just don't have a competition cuz thats not what they're there to do. Its not like they're professional athletes or anything. If thats what everybody submits next year instead of their most impressive skiing with a bit of fun on the side then JOSS will be worse of for it.

The songs were horrible? Team America's song started out with, 'Jea Jea Jea Jea." Really?

Team Canada's edit was quite enjoyable to watch and I think that, if the filmmaking was the most influential category, they deserved the win. It was funny, had a good vibe, and was very unique from the thematic and filmmaking standpoints. However, I do think it was a bit lame that Team America and the rest of the field were not very informed upon this judging change from last year and I think that if this fact was made better known we would have seen a lot more enjoyable, creative edits like Team Canada's. Regardless, sick competition.

P.s. did anyone get the sense that Dorey, Chug, and Schiller could make an awesome full-length ski movie along these same lines? I definitely wouldn't mind watching 45 minutes of this kind of edit.

I really liked the Canada edit, but not because of the skiing. It was a fun edit and deserved some credit, but the skiing was no where near that displayed in America's edit. Personally, aside from the NS edit I thought America had the best skiing and shots.

It was amazing because it was different than everybody's edit. It had a different vibe to it than all the other edits. Their edit makes you want to go out and ski with friends more than the others...for me at least.

But I think it would be sick if the JOSS edits had a more feel good vibe to them because that is the type of edits that I enjoy watching. I mean watching doubles and afterbang is fun and all but it gets old after a while.

To each his own I guess...Also who said urban wasn't fun? You can make urban look fun...who said competitions arn't fun? Skiing is what you make it...if you spend all your time skiing worrying about winning competitions or becoming a SUPER PROOOOOOOOOOOOOO and not having any fun than I feel sorry for you because the real fun side of skiing is shredding with some friends and just having a good time...which is what Canada's edit is all about.

But really this is all my opinion I don't care how you ski or what you like to do with your time.

How can Team America get angry? ill tell you how

1. Jon said that this year there would be a much bigger emphasis on rails and urban features. to me, its an absolute outrage that the year he incorporates this, a team with 1 urban shot wins. it wasnt even a good trick, while team america pretzeled everything

2. the music sucked big time. it was slow, boring, and totally did not fit the liveness and and fast pace of freestyle park skiing. furthermore, at least one of the songs was all about canada. had team america used a song promoting the united states, i guarantee you NS would flip shit because you think all americans are stuck up

3. the editing confused me. while listening to songs about canada, i also felt like i was watching a horror movie. those flash frames and erratic twitches of shots made me feel like i was watching a shitty scary movie, but then i opened my ears again and reminded myself that there was goofy music playing. again, skiing and this editing do not belong together

4. lots of people are saying it shows what skiing is all about, having a great time. well if your looking for that, why not just show everyone getting wasted every night? all of the burger eating shots and the little kids doing flips and useless nonsense were pointless and way too dragged out. while team america's video was filled with great tricks of great shots, half of canada's video was dicking around

oh, and team NS had a great urban segment, but i severely disliked their song. it sounded like a black baby crying to a background of low pitched farts. and team NS's jumps were seriously lacking in both technicality and style

I don't know. I'm really torn on the subject. I really liked Norway and NS for the skiing, but Canada's edit was by far the most professional looking IMO. All the tricks Canada did were extremely clean, but lacking variety. I personally did not find the music in Canada's edit to be bad, in fact I liked it. Overall, if you were looking at the edit as a whole, I agree that Canada deserved the win.

team america's edit sucked ass, just another super serious song, serious skiing, serious vibe, we have seen it all before way too much, the whole epic serious badass skiing bullshit is getting sooo old, it was old 5 years ago.
canada's was all about havin fun and it had a awesome vibe, the editing and music was amazing. while team music sucked ass.

canada's was easily better.

dude the only problem i found with team america's bitching out and posting the video

is they were complaining SO HARD about how much comedy and not skiing team canada's video had.
and about how they werent' judging on skiing enough

well if you go back and time it, team america had the longest devoted comedy part (a full 2 minutes) out of ALL THEM.

yes, they had the MOST comedy, it just wasnt really that funny, and still bitched about skiing not taking the front priority.

i mean other edits just went right into skiing, how can they be so hypocritical? id understand if they didnt have any comedy, but they had the most!

"Absolute outrage"? Honestly? You care so much about an invitational ski film competition's results that you call it an "absolute outrage" that the winning team has one urban shot?

And as for the patriotism in the song, it's poking fun, it's happy, it's kidding around at Canada. That fits the edit perfectly. It's not the patriotism I commonly see about the US, which is often serious and preachy about how much better they think the US is. But I'm sure you wouldn't notice the difference.

couldn't agree more. the vid didnt suck, but how the fuck does that get 1st? the intro hurt my brain and i couldnt even make out the park shots they had in the beginning (which i thought was the best part). if there was a shot of tom wallace naked they totally wouldve won.

Yea Im confused why team america is pissed too.
Canada's edit had fewer skiing shots, 1 urban shot and a few jump shots. The rest of it was super funny, which is the criteria for high budget SKIING competition.

All sarcasm aside, the only people who are praising the video clearly don't know the finer points in skiing. And it most certainly didnt get people 'stoked to go skiing'.

Team america should have just sent film actors to sweden to do the skiing for them

O.k yes it is about having fun and being with your friends we all do that when we go out and ski I don't need a video to tell me that. When I watch a ski video I want to see top notch tricks and America delivered and should have at least made the top 3 because Norway's and Newschoolers were also amazing.

Editing was amazing in my opinion. America's was great for "yesterday"'s standards, but Canada brought some thing fresh and new to the table, and that is really what judges are looking for.
