the fact that they purchased the device with knowledge that is was not owned by the guy who found it is illegal, they're now in possession of stolen property whichever way you cut it. also non-disclosure agreements are common in all types of businesses and they have reasons for existing. in this situation i would think the guy who lost it was not violating his nda and he shouldn't be fired. this is assuming he was authorized to carry this phone, and he didn't lose it intentionally.

i still call shenanigans on apple. there's no way, with their security of products before, would someone just leave a prototype in a bar. it was purposely left there for hype because it seems really unlikely that someone high up in the company took the phone out to test it and happened to forget that he had it and left it in plain view at a bar. hell i would never forget my cell phone, never mind a multi-million dollar prototype phone.

the device was LOST not stolen. And besides he didn't actually pay to keep the device. He paid to have the opportunity to take photos of it and observe it. Totally different.

well look at how much news attention this is all getting. i just fail to see how apple with such a spotless record, could go and fuck up that bad. do you really think that they'd take something so important and use it at a bar- much less leave it there? its all for publicity and thats why you won't ever hear about anyone at apple getting fired over this. the guy was paid to do that. this prototype is chum in the water and its working really well.

you can't buy stolen property.  thats just a fact.  yes it would suck if you bought a stolen car and had it seized unknowingly but thats the law. stolen/found is the grey area here.

and the guy who lost it at the bar was an idiot.  why would you bring a prototype to the bar unless it was to gloat and show it off.  he needs to take his job a little more serious
