heading out to mammoth on sunday solo for a few days. never been to CA skiing before. potentially staying at the taramac unless any knows of some cheap sleeping in town? I dont think im gonna have a car, would that be a mistake?
Motel 6 is usually cheapish and has a bus stop right outside it(bus is free to the mountain and grocery store). Not sure of the pricing in Mammoth though.
I went there last June on the closing weekend and it is super dope. Three lifts run (1,3, & 23), but you still get top to bottom skiing and the snow wasn't that bad when I was there. However, it was so foggy I could see about 10 feet in front of me on the way down to the spring park, if that. Remained cloudy all day and the top never opened, we even had a little snow flurry for a few minutes. Park is not bad at all for Summer and overall it's a pretty dope experience. If the sun is out, you will have an awesome time.
well im going in 2 weeks but my family was is there right now and they said that canyon lodge and eagle and mccoy are closed as a business decision since there are not as many ppl going to make paying for a lift to run worth it. But I think mccoy may be open again I am not sure.
Kinda sucks cuz there is plenty of snow (5 inches fresh pow the past day) on canyon. but there is still plenty of the mountain left to ski and the top always has some good runs. parkwise i cant tell ya till i get there
You should not stay at tamarack unless you have a car. I am pretty sure the bus is not running there anymore. You should stay somewhere in town forsure. It is going to be crazy this weekend just to warn you. WCI is this weekend and it is going to be super fun. Hit me up if you wnat more info
That whole part of the hill has a set closing date. Right now chairs 2, 1, 3, and gondi are running and 10, 5, and maybe 9 this weekend. Today was a sick powder day. Main Park and Forest Trail are open and stacked nice. don't stay at tamarack. you will be stranded out there.
thanks everyone. Im staying on property at the mammoth inn, they were doing a 3 night for 2 deal. I never checked back here, wasnt sure about the bus schedules this time of year. kind of wished I was staying off site now
