This friday is my road test and I will be driving a '98 camry. The check engine light is on and it has been for a while. I'm pretty sure it just needs a new O2 sensor and I just haven't got around to getting that checked out because its not really my car yet. The car runs fine, not one problem. I'm just feeling like theyre going to say they can't perform the test because the check engine light is on or some bullshit. Will I still be able to take my road test? I think i'll be fine but i'm just over thinking it because I really want my license.
I know that for my emissions test the check engine light has to be off in order to pass. My check engine light is also on in my car and have to get it reset every time it needs an inspection. Granted that is a separate test but it would probably be wise to either use a different car or just call the DMV.
My check engine light was on for my test. just tell them that the lights messed up and the mechanic told you not to worry about it an that you're getting it fixed soon.
I was thinking about reading the manual and pulling the plug on the right light.
And using another car is out of the question. My parents have 3 cars, an '07 expedition, an '10 camry and a '09 mercedes cls 280 (I think).
I have driven the expedition a lot, and I like it, but there's no way I'm parallel parking that tank. I have driven the '10 camry once and it was definitely different from a '98 camry so I don't know if I could pass the test driving that car. It has a lot more kick. And the mercedes i've never driven for obvious reasons.
yeah my check engine light was always one but there was nothing wrong with my engine so my dad just took the bulb out and its never been a problem haha
you seriously don't deserve your license if your not a skilled enough driver to drive any car at any point in time
(not including manual vs. automatic becuase obviously i you dont know how to drive a stick then you dont and thats legit) but you shoud definitley be prepared to drive any vehicle that your license covers at any time or you shouldnt have a license.
what you should do is get ready for the test, when you get in the car turn it on. next pop the hood and go look at the engine. get back in the car. explain to the guy giving you the test that the check engine light was on so you went to check it, and everything is fine. he will be so impressed that you are fully aware of your surroundings to notice the light and he will for sure pass you easy
Take the car to Autozone and download the computer, if it is something stupid TELL THEM to clear the computer, they will not do this so say "Let me push the button to clear the computer".
Problem solved, also you will know what is wrong with your car.
Hahaha what are you a drivers ed teacher. I'm sure he can drive any car but obviously he is going to be particular about which one he takes for his license test because there is no room for era. I'm sure you couldn't parallel park a crew cab f350 with a long bed first try...
i was a driver in military and i drove about 5 different cars. its pretty hard to know everything driving-related yet alone everything safety-related (lights, first-aid kit, how to access the motor, how to change tires, etc.
