not to mention, sponsors that will be really easy to get won't be doing anything to benefit you at all anyways. If anyone can get that company to sponsor them, they arent forking out goods to their riders.

Wrong. You get sponsored because a company thinks you would do a good job advertising and selling their product. It has nothing do to with not being able to afford gear. No company sponsors people out of pity. It's all marketing.

vantownloc, HELLO! 500 dollar skis compared to 20 dollar lift ticket, no comparison, sorry. I know a bunch of kids who wouldn’t be skiing or snowboarding if their sponsors didn’t help out.

hello tahoefreerider. well that's cool then 4 them i suppose. from my experience the kids getting hookups are usually the ones who rip shit. the money follows.

also i know lots o' places where you can get 150$ used gear with bindings. and unlike skate decks they usually don't wear out every week.

the shit about marketing is totally on the money. hence my dismay at xgames and all the organization culture stuff.

what I was trying to say was some kids don't just want a sponsor to be cool. Someone said “just ski for yourself�; what I was trying to say is that some people need sponsors for financial reasons. I wasn't trying to say that only poor kids get the sponsors.
