Change in Natural Spinning Direction?

Anyone else had this?

When I was first learning to spin normally, I always spun leftside. Once I began learning corks, I started setting them to the right, because that is the way I carve most strongly. Now, I throw all spins to the rightside? Is this a regular occurrence?


Sparknote: Spun leftside naturally for a season and a half, now spin rightside naturally.

some people spin their corks/rodeos different to their normal spins. one of the pg13 kids (possibly Hauser?) does right rodeos naturally whilst spinning left for normal spins. and oscar wester can natural dub cork 12 (right) and natural dub rodeo/flat 9 to his left. go figure. either way it doesnt reaaally matter

i know that some people (myself included) suffer from spinning switch opposite you spin foward. i feel like this almost has more to do with what shoulder youre more comfortable looking over sw.

but i could definitely see someone changing their natural direction. Ty Barnes would fool any untrained eye... his right side shit is the moooost fire.

If you spin a rodeo right side then while you are spinning upside down your body is spinning left in relation to itself even though you're still spinning right in relation to the ground so right side flippy spinny things can feel more natural to some people.
Spinning both ways is the way to go.

I know plenty of people that spin left but cork right. but never heard of actually switching spins. But I can see it giving you a big advantage being able to spin both ways fairly natural.

I didn't quite understan that but I think l left rodeo is when you come out of your flip (ie. rodeo 9) you'll be spinning left, but when you come off the lip your head kinda drops to the right.  You'd still set like a left side spin though.  Not sure if that's what you were trying to say but that's how I've always thought of it

I do the same thing. Its definitely because I'm more comfortable looking over that shoulder

haha. i did the same thing. started out spinning right then tried left and was 10x more comfortable. i still spin better right switch because i carve better that direction. i can sw one equally well either direction though. its all about what feels comfortable. definitely not weird

This doesn't really have much to do with it but I used to grind left foot forward but then all of my friends set ups were more fro grinding right foot forward so I just switched

idk, but one thing i've noticed about spinning in 1 direction only is that you constantly pummel the same side of your body  over and over again (hip, shoulder, side)

I think i'm going to start spinning the opposite direction just to even out the damage

it kind of happened to me on trampolines. i can spin better rightside sometimes for some reason

can spin way faster and more tech to the right but i have a lot more control and style to the left.

and i also switch spin to the right but when i go off the lip forward i spin left

I have to spin right if I take off switch, for rodeos or misties I would spin left(only done them on tramps and diving boards), for straight spinning I'm usually more comfortable spinning left but spinning right is just as easy once I've set the spin.

Also I naturally spin left (except for 180's), but always spin right when 2sev onto rails because I can spot the rail the whole way through, for some reason i lose sight of the rail when I spin left onto it.

Some people learn regular spins in one direction but cant learn corks that way. I think if you are adjusted to spinning left normal it is harder to get yourself to cork because you have learned to balance on your spine and now you have to lean and dip your head.

All my friend spin the same way but i spin 3's left and then everything else bigger right. Kinda weird

I have done so many right 5s that first hit i would rather do a right 5 then a left 5. Anything more I am more comfortable spinning left.
