Replying to Automotive, Clutch/Drivetrain diagnossis

      Here are the symptoms and the story to help with ideas

    So yesterday a friend and I were trail riding. We were going up this older logging road that crossed a field, and there was a snow patch on the backside of this hill that blocked the road. No tracks through it and we could see the road on the other side. Only snow we had seen in miles. Went through it. almost instantly sunk. Got stuck. Smaller truck with a lift kit and bigger tires (Nissan Frontier). Anyways tried to get the truck out by digging and slowly making progress, but the snow was wet and heavy and this truck doesnt have a lot of power to spin the wheels. long story short. An Hour and a Half goes by of just rocking and pretty much rodding the shit out of the truck.  digging it out. getting stuck again, and digging it out. Then stop the truck to dig more. Start the truck. and Nothing. the clutch seems dead when minutes earlier iit was pretty much fine. We werent going anywhere and the you could stick it in any gear without the clutch being depressed and the engine wouldnt even flutter

    I would think the clutch. BUUT that wouldn't seem to me as likely to go out in a matter of minutes. (over the course of the hour and a half there was probably about only 10 minutes of driving).
   I wouldn't think the transmission as that wouldn't go quietly, and everything in there is packed so tight, we would hear something if it broke. ( you would think) and some of the gears would work and it wouldn't roll freely in any gear.  (you would think)
   input shaft in the transmission? maybe?
I don't know
  obviously it needs to visit a mechanic for a proper diagnosis, but a clutch would probably be the easiest fix... With proper tools and such, but i do have access to an automotive pit here which will make the job easier... And by easier i mean less expensive and time consuming. I don't think i could change a transmission in someones automotive pit in their garage haha.

Thoughts? sorry for long post. read the bottom half, for general issues and thoughts on what happened.
