allright i don't get why and i still don't understand why there is so much hate on simon?????

for these last past three years even more i've seen just hate on simon

and since this past week it's getting worse even out of control

i would like for once all the haters of him to explain in a good way(and not just saying he's a douche or whatever)

cause i've known simon for a pretty long time now and when i hear peolpe talking shit on his back whe they just don't even met him person that peace me off

simon he's a nice kid

now before hating on him explain yourself clearly or just don't talk shit about him

I think that most famous people are misunderstood, and that Simon is the same way. He seems to come off as a bit egotistical in some interviews i've seen. Bottom line, don't judge somebody unless you have actually met them.

but i will say this:  in the america JOSS edit, homeboy showed some of the illest jump and rail skiing i've seen out of him!

well sir, i do not simply hate on simon because i am not a hater. i think the reasons why people hate on simon is because simon is to damn ill. he is the slumdog illionaire. if you notice illionaire is either millionaire or billionaire. we do not know. millionaire and billionaire = $1,000,000.00 and $1,000,000,000.000. illionaire = 1,000,000.00 or 1,000,000,000.00. ill = how steezy you are and how you do your tricks. so in conclusion simon an illionaire therefore he has 1,000,000.00 or 1,000,000,000.00 steezyness points.

i've met him and i think he came off that way more in real life then in any interview i've read with him.  don't get me wrong he's one of the greatest all time skis ever and has pushed the sport in so many ways.  i expected tom wallisch to be more snoby then simon..but not at all.  i met lolo also and he was real chill.  i guess i envy simon more then anyone being from maine myself but that's how it is some have more opportunities then others.  not saying i could ever do what he's done i can't but he could def. be a little less cocky about it.  i shouldn't bitch tho if i was in his nike 6s id prob be the same damn way..simply because i could.  but he should treat all kids aspiring to be skiers/buying his products equally which from my personal experience he hasn't

naw, the reason he's getting hated on is exclusively because he and tom probably or did have a part in releasing their edit earlier than jon had requested

just a bit disrespectful, if they had a problem with the judging there is other ways to resolve it

i dont hate on dumont but one of my friends does cause when he was up at baldface (cat skiing) because his dad works their. Anyways the nike 6.0 team was there and my friend was up there aswell and he was hanging out with Tj, sammy and jossi but dumont wouldnt hang out with him so theres a reason

it kinda seems like the only argument people have against him is "he can only land dubs in the pipe and he has no rail game whatsoever".

Why do you make such dumb threads?  Who cares why people hate on certain people.  Everyone isn't going to get along.  Simon is a great skier and some people just dont like his his personality or ways.   This is Newschoolers, where we are supposed to talk about skiing?  Not talking about girl talk drama shit.  Anyways, sick dub simon at JOSS.

Hate is strong word, but he has never been my favorite skier.  He doesn't seem to have the humility or attitude that I like in an athlete who is in the limelight.  You wonder why Andreas and Bobby and Russ aren't topics all the time like Simon or Tom?  They don't have to toot their own horn and they are genuinely encouraging and supportive of other skiers.  I have yet to see many threads about Simon taking the time to teach some groms or giving generously.  I dunno, he never comes across as the most likeable guy.  I am guessing most people aren't his #1 fan because of his response during competition when he loses.  Not so classy.  I do love that he is competitive and has a drive to win.  I really appreciate that about him.  Unfortunately when that isn't paired with a solid dose of humility it produces ugly results at the end of a comp.

Did that answer your question at all?  Again, just giving my impression.  I am not judging Simon because there are lots of reasons for people not to like me as well, but you asked so I told you.

its very simple...
first off i never "met" him... i said "hey simon" and he said "whats up man? how you doin" so i can't speak on his character in real life
I for one am a fan of simon and I'll straight up say it, he is probably my favorite skier. He goes bigger than anyone else, tom has him on the rails for sure, but everything simon does is clean as hell. He never flails in the air and looks mad confident in what ever he is doing. Surely he is not very tech but i love watching his clean ass runs and marveling at the confidence he skis with. For example, his final shot in EDIAS on that big ass Mt. Bachelor jump. He does a cork something (either 10 or switch 12). He has probably half a second left of air time and only has 180 to go. Instead of just coming out of his spin and rolling down the windows to a landing, this kid slows down his rotation mid air, does a smooth ass 180 and stomps his landing. He ALWAYS stomps his landing, look at slumdog illionare, his skis are pretty much exactly with the angle of the landing on every trick, he's clean ass hell.

Anyways, now that I finally got that out, people hate him cause he is too mainstream. I'm gonna get mega beef for this but the whole NS movement is all into the individuality and underground thing. We all love tom wallisch cause he won superunknown, came outta nowhere and started killing it. Tom is the pretzel man without a doubt but i don't find his jumps to be any different than any other pro, and surely not as impressive as dumonts. Dumont is the household name to skiing and becuase of this people view him as disconnected from the roots of the sport and thus discount him as an arrogant celebrity. This is not done consciously like, o he's so popular I hate him, but when they encounter him they don't see him as a "true" skiier and thus they take stuff he says as arrogant even when its probably not. Again, I haven't met him in real life, but I doubt he is as much as a douche as people make him out to be.

I like Simon...haha. That dude is really good at skiing, and has been for a real long time. No hate here. I think anyone who actually takes the time to be hating on a pro skier that they don't know is surely under the age of 15.

i kinda hated him for a while. then i read a great article about him in powder mag. i think it was called "simon dumont: why you hate him, and why you shouldn't." it really changed my view of him. i like him now. but this whole joss situation reminds me of junior high.

It's pretty simple LoLo.... the more famous you are, the more haters you have. But I can guarantee that there are way more lovers than haters... Just look at Shaun White, he is hated by so many people, but I can also guarantee that he is loved by way more people than he is hated by. 

And you gotta remember, all press is good press, even when people are hating on you, your name is still out there and being talked about... so you must be doing something right if the general public or your sport's community is talking about you.

Im gonna present two things here so bare with me.

1. I USED to not like simon because i saw him turning into a solely contest skier. Kinda like Shaun white did with snowboarding. Yes he is respected, but sadly, he's oriented himself into a contest only sponsor poster child. It was getting annoying. Sadly, I thought simon was going down that same road. More concerned with his media rep than his skiing. I appreciate the type skiers that are able to compete in competition as well as put down segments. And I'm not talking about park only segments.

2. This JOSS i saw an improved side of him. He put down new tricks, was having fun, and straight up improved. He wasn't rolling around hotheaded like the man to beat, but rather as a fellow skiing lapping the jumps like everyone else. Plus he put down an actual pow segment last season. Sure, it wasn't "epic" pow skiing, but it was something out of the pipe.

Going behind Jon's back was "childish", but they apologized so move on. Who cares if you think its sincere or not, they felt they should have deserved better so they acted. If you disagree, so be it. I'm not saying what they did was right, they should have confronted the judges, but its over now. No reason crying over spilt milk, just move on.
