I thoroughly enjoy both Team Down Under's and Team Europe's edit much
more than Team America's. I don't know what all this drama is about, in
my opinion both these edits were better.
word man...maybe down under didn't have enough good shots, and one timelaps with the northern light was used twice...but theirs and europes URBAN was so much more creative than team america...now i really don't know why teamerica is bitching about everthing!
That was really impressive. Jacob's behind the back hand drag, Harlaut's cork 9 nose tap wall ride, Elias' dub cork blunt, and that pallet ride were all incredible shots. Filming/editing was pretty sick, but not as good as team down under.
correctomundo. both EU and DU killed the Team America edit. which rather makes you wonder why pros like Jacob are coming out saying America's was the best... when on this evidence it clearly wasn't.
That pallet slide was actually one of the illest shots I have ever seen, can't believe this got last. What is Team America's problem? They made it seem like their edit was so good and definetely should have won, Team Europe 's and Team Down Under's are easily as good as America's.
Well, the judges said when they announced Team Canada as the winner that the over all impression was most important. Team Europe and Team Down Under had way better filming than America, but I think a lot of people get more stoked on skiing when they see America's edit.
But, Alex schlopy killed it more than Danger (possibly because of his injury), and I didn't feel like Oscar Harlaut got enough shots (even though the double japan on the JOI jump was uber sick). That also might be a factor that made America beat both DU and Europe.
Europe had better cinematogrophy than Down Under, but Team Europe and Down Under = Art
And I hate the fact that everything gets compared to America because of the leak.
What's up with pretty much every single shot being slomoed? I know it looks cool, further stabilizes your shots, and whatnot, but I'd expect filmers or whoever edited to realize that slowing everything down by at least 50% will make it look like they didn't have enough material. Same goes for many other edits. I'd rather watch skiing the way it looks like in reality.
as of now( before seeing the rest of the edits) i think the best way to test impression is by showing a non skiier the edits. that way you take out technicality and base it off how the edit came off to them. as of now team americas is the only one i can get my friends to watch. and go wow.
That was such fucking crazy urban. Behind the back hand drag, wooden pallets was dope, heli/para shot was insane, and that blunt dub cork was so fucking nuts.
both team down under and team europe edits kicked ass...not much of a difference between team america...im not saying which one was better...but all of them were fucking sick
They are not slowing them down, they are filmed at varied frame rates from 25-60 so the footage is slow as a raw file. It is something the Filmer has to decide when they are setting up the shot, generally changing speed later makes things ugly when making it slower and sometimes faster. most teams edits get done in about 24-36 hour straight edit session at the end of the 2 weeks which doesn't leave alot of time for post production.
btw, i hate that they cut away the take off, when jacob is doing the "behind the back hand drag" (whatever trick it was). i'd like to see the whole damn trick there!
I think that this edit is the best out of the ones that are out so far. I would put it Europe, America, then Down Under. The only reason why America is not as good as Europe's edit is because America's edit was just like another typical edit you would see from Dumont and T-Wall, there skiing was defiantly the best but Europe's editing was far better
All this hate on America? really? Go watch their edit again, it's still good no matter what Dumont and Wallisch were bitching about. Had Europe or DU been released earlier and America now I'm sure it would be the other way around. Watching all 3 back to back I still have to say America had the best, barely over DU. Europe just lacked the new super next level shit, but was still a really good edit. America just had the best (not most creative) urban shots and was a solid overall edit.
Gyea that was ill. Elias has some skills, can't wait to see how he progresses now that hes got some recognition, same with Oscar. Jacob def killed it, really tech stuff.
I have held back posting on joss stuff because of all the BS drama shit going on. but that moment at 4:05 on the pallets made me fall in love with skiing progression all over again. I love new and different stuff. Everyone under the sun does doubles and kangaroos and yada yada. Its the stuff like that , that shows real thought and inventiveness.
