Suggestion to maybe reduce Alias accounts

On another forum site I use they dont allow you to post for 3 days after signing up...

Something like this on Newschoolers might help reduce the ammount of people creating Alias's that make one bullshit thread so their real account doesn't get Karma fucked.

Just thought i'd throw it out there.

Nothing ever done will prevent aliases. If somebody wants to intentionally fuck shit up via an alias, it's going to happen. No matter what preventive strategy you want to go with, it will interfere with people just trying to make a regular account. You can't limit the number of usernames from a certain IP because sometimes there are brothers/sisters that share an internet connection or a whole house of skiers living together that share a connection all with usernames. You can't set up a certain number of posts or thread viewings because sometimes people are new to the site and want to ask a question right off the bat and having them jump through those hoops could possibly deter them from using the site.

basically... aliases are just something everyone has to deal with.

What would stop the aliases is people not making aliases. How about anyone who gets their alias banned also straight up no questions asked gets their real name banned for a week

here's an idea. ; essentially, a lot more, and harsher might i add, consequences to bad behavior on the site. name calling, useless posting, etc. sure noobs were fun candy back in the day, but now you have over thousands of members, things aren't the same anymore. if people cant fuck around as stupidly as they once did, the count of stupid actions will go down, but yeah, stupid shit will still happen, but it will lower in doses, but now it's just like someone has a bad case of crabs and no one's using the ointment.

if people knew there were more serious consequences to their actions, they would likely lessen their acts of stupidity, or if not, then would eventually get fed up of trying because there efforts were constantly thwarted.

Not harsh enough, straight up ban them for a decent amount of time. Like a 6 months. That'll stop it.

The problem is though with wireless and such these days there can be lots of people on the same IP, or just lots of people using the same computer.
