how many concussions do you think is enough to make you stop skiing

i recently had my 5th( all wearing a helmit, ask anyone)...i figure if i get to like 12...i might be picking up the camera insted of my skis

I've been hospitalized for 6, lost memory one, out cold once, and had a bunch that I just new I had a concussion (based on past experiences - blurry eyes, headache that won't quit, nausea, etc). Best guess I'd have to say I've had in the range of 12-14 total.

I'm good at landing on my head (and only 1 has been from skiing).

don't use concusions as a measure of effort buddy, that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Concusion equals brain damage. don't aim for that.

there is no amount of concussions that should stop you from doing what you love, if anything it will just make you loopy and people will probably like you more anyway, cuz then youll actually have a personality

ape stead ..you should never speak again, that is one of the dumbest things i've heard on this site yet. yea he should risk permament damage to his mental ability just to keep skiing, maybe doing some camera work and taking a time out isnt such a bad idea

I think the point is that you cannot let an injury get in the way, you have to come back from it and go bigger. Do you honestly think anyone that gets really good has done so without taking a few lumps. But yes, you do have to be smart about it and weight the pros and cons before you attempt something.

it depends on how severe the concussion is. a few of minor concussions aren't too bad, but a few severe concussions could be really bad. I'd be sensible about your skiing if you wanted to continue skiing for a long time (helmets?)

I've only had 1, and it was mountain biking. Once I got stuck upside down on a jump while skiing, and the whole time I was just thinking 'here comes a concussion.' But instead I just ended up being unable to walk for a week and a half.

i don't feel at all effected by them, but i don't want to reach at point where i do.
its not gonna slow me down in anyway...the most it could ever do is keep me from jumping

*but my last one was really wierd...i drove home from the mt. then emediately started to feel like shit
parents took me to the hospital when i started puking then i basically blacked out...because i don't remeber fighting a cop and 3 three nurses in the hospital...or the 45min abulance ride

I have a friend whose doctor said if he gets anymore concussions, he might die. The last one he got, he overshot a roller during a DH race, and ran head first into a tree. He twitches now.

dude concussions stay with you your whole life, they just build up on top of each other, and the more that you have, the easier it is to get another one.

last week was #7, hit my head while falling off a 10-set (skateboard). I fractured my skull on #2, and was knocked out on #3,4,5.

ive only had one, when i was 11, sledding on ice, went off 10+ foot cliff in woods (on accident) hit a tree. its was awsome. hehe.

ive had one nonremebering one not too long ago. thats all i can think of. but i might have had others and just didnt know i did, like when i fell head and face first into the pavement, i didnt really know what i did, i just tried to find my way nome with blood pouring like a faucet out my nose

just look at what happened to eric lindross. once considered the best player since Sir wayne, now he is just an afterthought when he is healthy, and probally has the cognant ability of a broken crayon. i have had 9, but only 2 or 3 serious ones (like blackout and long term memory effects), but they are a bitch. like someone above said, once you have one, it is easier to get another, so that kind of sucks.

mah i feel for you man, i love to skateboard but i just can't do it anymore cause it fucks up my ankles way too bad, never had a concussion before... i think the legal limit on hockey players is 5. look on the bright side, if you irrevocably fuck yourself up, you wont remember any of it! yippeee
