Boone ski review--
current daily driver- the Moment 2x4s, “the Garbones”-
Ski tested--- The Glo Sticks 185, full rocker with demo bindings. 140-118-138
Conditions--- spring slushies at Squaw. variable conditions, groomers, crud, heavy slush
Type of skier, 6’1, 190, mobs hard. could give a damn about anything slow. straight lines, big turns, and trees.
The Result:
Typical spring skiing, heavy and wet, but squaw is a decent place to ski in the spring so I wasn’t complaining. From my understanding the Sticks were mounted near center which looked a little far forward at first.
These things f-ing mob. I mean I made spring squaw more of a bitch than I thought possible. Its not really even funny how well they did. Imagine the Hellbents with a backbone. there was limited to no chatter at the fast speeds, yet they are still nimble enough to rip through the grooms. These things would slice and dice through the shit snow creating a very playful ski that I had been missing in the Garbones.
The Glo Sticks maintain a consistent flex allowing you to rely on the tails in a emergency back seat situation. they seemed to deal with crud the best. I was able to straight line everything without worrying about being tossed around. These are sexy snow plows.
The most interesting part about this ski is it ability to slay the grooms. It’s absurd actually that a fat ski can do this. It doesnt take much more than a solid stance to really get things moving.
Remember, this is typical spring skiing. I cant imagine the damage you could do to a mountain when its deep.
And if park is your thing, hold on tight, you’re in for a trip. pop, and a shit ton of it.
Garbones are now in the backseat. It sucks, I know, those rip too. But unless its dead middle of winter and harder than ice outside, the Glo Sticks are the new daily driver. I know powder skis usually get little to no action in a winter, but with these things and how they rip, im not sure tiger could get this much play. yea i may sound like im jocking this ski, but it really is something special.
bottom like: if you wanna rip, want a good product at a reasonable price, sack up and get these, fuck what everyone else is doing.
