Rocker on park skis

i have been reading about some 2011 park ski models having rocker in them. I have not been skiing long and have never used a ski that has rocker. What are the advantages to having rocker on a park ski? are there any disadvantages?

i belive this to be true to but its a different kinds of pop i switched to rocker and i love it. the only con that i can find is that they have more of a slippery feel (harder to keep an edge and they get sketchy at high speeds

Ya, i second the slippery feel, i have K2 Kung Fujas, and often find myself checking to see if i lost an edge because they seem to slip a buch occasionally. But other than that, they are awesome for the Park, and being able to shred the pow is a plus too

yeah, this and depending on the amount of rocker sometimes when you spin really fast out of a rail, if the snow is hard or icy, you just keep spinning on the ground (it's fun sometimes, but makes it look like you're out of control others). It doesn't happen so much on jumps cause of the steeper landing and what-not, but if the landing of the rail is pretty flat it can happen if you spin to hard.

That's one reason why I wasn't a fan of the Kung Fujas, but I rode my new ON3P Jeronimos today and they were a much different feel.  It's basically like a tough pow ski that has park ski dimensions and a ton of pop.  Held a much firmer edge than the Fujas, or really most of the skis I've ever tried.  I can't say too much on anything other than basic park performance as I just got out of a sling and spent most of the day doing straight airs and mellow spins.  I did charge through some crud at Mach 5 for about a mile with a huge grin on my face, so it's nice having something that can handle both to my expectations (Fujas is lame outside the park).  It was a great first impression and I can't wait to be back at 100% to try more.

So I guess my opinion is that rockered skis in the park are nice for jumps without that risk of catching tips, and if you get something nice and stiff then that rocker also helps you bust through crud and keep you on top of the snow when the snow conditions are poor (like today with slush that felt like sand - still hitting 70 foot jumps without worry).

i got a chance to ride a pair of k2 domains and i'm totally sold. they feel way more playful, which i find my skiing migrating more towards. i can't comment on stability doing cab 10s and whatnot on huge jumps, but for everything i rode them on, they were super fun.

Lot of people are liking them as well. For anyone wondering, just get on a pair of rockered-cambered park skis and try it. For some people its absolutely awesome, others prefer the traditional, just depends on your style of riding.

Rockered park skis worked out for the crew on Saturday at the Orage Masters. Hell, even Sean's new rockered obSETHed worked as a park ski for him.

The park at Stevens this weekend had more than a few guys rocking Hellbents, park skis can be pretty much anything these days apparently.

No, I meant lame as in it's so soft that it folds under hard lines.  It's a much better park ski.

We've been so happy with our rockered park skis that we are strongly considering not offering any non-rockered skis next year....meaning blue steeles will all come rockered.

I have never ridden them in park, but on regular groomers rockered skis are really slippery, like not much edge, really odd, but you could get used to it. It is the future of skiing either way.

Aw shit. My mistake. Thanks for correcting me! I wasn't so sure we were going to go full rockered on our line for this next year, as it would be a huge step with 5 of our 6 models already rockered before the past season even began....but SIA came around, K2's booth made me splooge in my pants, and I said...

"Fuck man. I am strongly considering ripping off k2."

And it was done.
