Alright so i just recently bought this little samsung camera from my friend for cheap. I took some test shots of nature just to see how it looks. I go, plug the camera into my MacBook and everything uploads perfectly. I transfer the videos to my Desktop to make them more accesible. I try to watch a clip and it just plays the sound, so i say okay and download the new version of Quicktime( the format the clips are in) to my comp. That is downloading now. So i decide to try to make a new video in iMovie. I go grab a clip from my desktop and try to drag it into the iMovie area. A message comes up that says this file is not compatible with iMovie. So my question is, how do i make them so i can use them for iMovie?

Please help as I do not want this camera to go to waste.

well it shows up as quicktime on the desktop. Then it says AV1.

You probably need to convert them to a different file format.

Download mpeg streamclip or vlc player to watch the clips.

Alrgiht thanks. I dont necessarily want to watch them just on the comp but i want to be able to use them in iMovie.

Alright so i downloaded the mpeg stream clip. It is opend but does not make sense. How do i use it? do i have to import a file? doesnt make sense.

Instead of putting them into your desktop, just right click and send to Imovie, if that doesnt work, go into imovie and import them from the original file. not sure otherwise, it works fine on my computer

Alright ill try that. I went to the iMovie help screen and it says iMovie does not support my camera. So i think i do need to convert them.
