looking to grab some new boots because my OG SPK's are to soft for me. Im looking for a stiff park boot in we wide foot range. How are the nordica ace of spades? or the ignation? how stiff are the spk pros? just looking for same boots that are stiffer and have a wide version. I WILL BE GOING TO A BOOTFITTER . Just looking to see what ppl think of the boots listed above
what do you consider a stiff park boot? like a 110? or like a 90?
i like the tecnica agents. they have lots of anti vibration and all that padding for park, but they can also ride just like their twin brother, the dragon series (which is more racey oriented. they are the same shell). they just wreck shit all over the mountain.
pretty sure the SPK pro has a 110 flex. one of my friends has them, only rides piste and freeride and loves them. I can't really comment more than that since they don't fit me.
yeah, they're rated at a 110, but they're really not.
i have a pair with booster straps and don't think they're no where near that stiff.
but if you want a "stiff" pair of park boots with a wide waist, you unfortunately don't have many other options...
possibly this next seasons Booter with a stiffer tongue? it makes me a little sick that i'm even suggesting a fulltilt boot to someone.
One thing you might consider is putting in an Intuition liner instead of buying all new boots. It stiffens the boot significantly, that's what I did in my SPK's when they were packing out and I was happy to have a stiffer boot as well. A nice surprise and it saved me a lot of money and the torture of trying to find a boot that fits me. I got those SPK's for free, they fit awesome, and now they should last a few more seasons!
This is just my opinion, but maybe ask a bootfitter about it. I definitely noticed a big difference.
do you find that they're really difficult to get in to now?
because i considered doing this with my pro's but was talked out of it because i was worried about not being able to slide my foot in them. haha
Maybe it my boots, or they they were never buckled after skiing but they are flexy as hell, they flex foward more then my skis, Will booster straps help this?
spk's have a lot of flex once you wear them down. way comfortable. i would say the best lasting boot you could find would probably be a dalbello though. i ride spk's because i like flex. but you keep stiffness in a dalbello boot for awhile
Plain and simple if you liked SPK's GO WITH THE SALOMON GHOSTS! 130 flex.. all the comforts of the spk.. Backbone for stiffness.... cushy liner need i say more?
