I dont get how someone who is so good at jumps, is also just as good at racing. I myself am a racer and have skied a little FIS like Jon does but I also spend a lot of time in the park. And this year I realized it is really hard to be killin it in both. Yet he goes all week and Joss and shreds and does his double flips but then takes a day off coming up and has to go to his FIS race. Seems crazy and I dont think a lot of people realize how hard it is to be so good at both things when you haven't experienced both aspects of skiing.

And he also lives the life.. hes rich as fuck.. how i dont know..? his parents money?
and he just races and skis park all the time.
what could be better?

i dont think parents money, he has just a lot of good deals going for a lot of big companies, so i think hes fine.


and yes he is the bomb. still would like to see him doing more big mountain to see how well rounded he is. although i am pretty sure that he wont have any problems with it.

rails are easy compared to jumps.. i'm sure he could be half decent if he had the mind to practice

He probably could be decent at rails if he tried. But like I said, racing is a hard sport and its a sport you need to always be training different conditions and terrain. Same with park, hes gotta maintain his ability to be throwin dubs at his Joss jumps in the midst of all of this.
And damn thats even sicker its his money. I thought he was just born into a millionaire family.

Rails aren't that cool anyway, I can't believe some people spend all day just hiking rails and call it skiing.  It's fun, but man that would get boring if it's all you do.

I can back you up on that one, I live in Michigan and most of the year we really dont have any big jumps. Unless i drive 8 hours up to marquette in the UP.
So mainly when we do go out skiing it is rails and jibs. otherwise is 20 foot jumps which are fun regardless but you cant really get steezy laid out tricks off of them

lol idiot...he's not your typical NS member..

He's made his own way and is enjoying his accomplishments you've gotta respect a guy like that...and he is absolutely one of the most well rounded skiiers ever..you're right it must be incredibly difficult to not only compete in such different aspects of skiing but to excel at both proves he is on a whole other level

i like "real" skiing more than rails nowadays but to the people who said "rails are way easier than jumps" and that theyre boring, you have your heads up your asses. what kind of claims are those??

but for the record i watched happy dayz the other day when i was at home (not school) and jon does a switch lip to left foot forward (unnatural) slide on an urban.. and that was in 2002

I don't understand JOSS at all. Why is it that Jon Olson gets his own two week ski extravaganza. I could see if it was dedicated to a deceased rider (like a Shane BC jib fest would be awesome in his honor) but it just seems egotistical to have your very own 2 weeks in skiing. I'm kind of sick of hearing about it.

I really should go to TGR more, I don't understand the park game

haha I'm not sure. I just don't get it though.

Like bands that are like "the Joe Schmo band". As if its all about Joe schmo. Fuck him man, hes just as important as his drummer/bassist. Its a band, it makes music, work together, not just for a single man's benefit.

ya I understand what you're saying...but I guess when you and you're own sponsors are putting on the event plus you're involved in every single aspect of the competition/event you've kinda earned the right to put your name on the event

I remember a few videos of him practicing on rails like Iv never seen anyone practice. He was practicing 270s on and counting how many he landed and how many he missed. He set himself goals and everything and he is still garbage in my opinion. What ever the guy has a hell of a life, he absolutely slays jumps and he does the racing thing which I dont find cool but is very respectable. plus hes a total baller... call me jealous I dont know but Im still not a big fan of him, however I respect what hes acomplished. the end.

How could you make a dead person's invitational, i suppose you could dig up their grave and ask who they want to invite?

how is it egotistical? It's his event, he created it, he pays the bills, he calls the shots, riders are stoked to go.

Jon dropped a few points in my book after hearing about all this JOSS bullshit.. and seeing what Jon said ragging on Tom and Simon.

In my opinion team americas edit this year was fire, i loved it.. and unless in the next day or two canadas and newschoolers drop and are just hella sick, then i think team americas tricks and edit took it.. i mean shit, look at the tricks and then the afterbanged out landings by all 3 members

Jon didn't dedicate the even to himself. Instead of Jon Olsson Super Sessions think of it as Jon Olsson's Super Sessions, he hosts a huge competition that pushes skiing and filming. Watch some of the videos with him and Colby and you see how busy he is organizing this, it's not just two weeks for him to mess around on the best features in the world.

It isn't about Jon.  He didn't even compete this year.  He was upset with how contests were run so he made his own and treated his fellow riders to a super fun/awesome event.  I bet that is the most fun event of the season for the pros who get to go.
