Replying to NSers who have read Brave New World

I'm writing a small paper for a brave new world unit in english class, and it involves what would happen if people's freedom was taken away altogether, i.e. if the current government tried to make the transition to the world state. I can't for the life of me find a good fucking example of when something like this has happened, so I'm asking NS. You don't need to explain it or anything, just tell me. I'd like it to be something serious, like a basic freedom, not anything regarding a menial issue like abortion.
