The New Mac Book Pro

I purchased a Mac Book Pro right before college (summer of '09) when the new ones at the time were released. Now they are releasing the newer Mac Book Pros. I'm no computer expert so can someone tell me why the new ones have less GHz than the ones from my release?

the new core i5 and i7 process are supposed to boost performance up to 50% according to them

funny how you cant get the i7 in the 17inch only the 15inch

they should have at least give the 13inch the i3 or i5 because C2D is outdated

Not anytime soon. Apple releases new shit all the time but that doesn't mean the previous generation is bad or hell even the generation before that. I still have a black macbook from 07 and it still kicks just as much ass as the day I got it. I am looking at these new Macbook Pro's just because I need to upgrade soon but I'd even settle for a previous gen.

The main improvement I personally see is their upgrade to extremely large solid state hard drives. It's truly a feat to see a 500gb solid state hard drives. This means that there is no spinning drive inside, so drop your computer all you want and you won't lose any data.

they updated the graphics card as well and its suppose to handle graphic performance. my 13" from last year is still solid as ever. more than likely they keep finding better deals on stuff and still charge the same to increase their profit margin.

my computer died last week and i got a raise last week so i kinda felt like a champ when i went on tuesday to buy the brand new one :)

yea its got updated graphics, and switches intelligently between intel HD and nvidia depending on what ur doing to save battery life, already been copying files over the wireless network for 4 hours and browsing and working in flash and still at 45% battery, its silly how long this thing can run

got the 15 inch 2.66 ghz core i7

and u can get i7 in the 17inch its just a customizable option.

it has more cores as well, and hyperthreads the 4 cores which creates 8 virtual cores.

i just looked at their site again and yes you can get the i7 in the 17 inch

but its odd that they are not in the base 17 inch model you have to add as an upgrade

The fuck? I can run Lightroom 2, Photoshop CS4, and Firefox all at the same time on my Black 2.16ghz with 2gb ram Macbook. 10hrs of battery life seems so fucking awesome, I'm sick of having to recharge like every 3 hours.
