Pow Sticks

So I'm looking to get a pair of pow sticks for next season. My original plan was to get a new pair of park skis as my Punx are fucked and only getting worse. (Edge missing underfoot on one ski, edge bent up and 30+cm's of base pokes out on the other, no more camber in tails, etc.) But after thinking about it, I'd rather deal with beat park skis and fork out some cash for something I've never really had the opportunity to ski, pow sticks. I know nothing about pow skis but I know what I want in this ski.

Firstly, my info.

I am:

5'6
120lbs
Decent in the park, can ski pow pretty well considering I've only ever skied it on center mounted park skis.

When there is pow I get to ski mostly trees and cliffs, so I need something that will perform in those areas. Biggest cliff stomped is 20+, if that's relevant.

What I want in a ski:

Soft
Playful

My current skis are 173cm's, been skiing them since I was 5'2 so I can handle a ski with a bit more length.

So do you want something rockered or more of a traditional ski? Something like the bacons would be good imo for someone your size, and you could get this years w/o rocker or next year's with rocker. I don't think someone your size would need anything as big as the EP pros, but they are a nice, very soft ski.

i ride moment melee's which are pretty similar to the night train...they will do just what you are looking for.  basically flat underfoot with generous amounts of rocker in the tips and tails.  they revolutionize the way you ski trees, lines you normally wouldnt hit are accessible and you can turn so tight you wont know what to do.  also super playful, i have to try really hard to keep them on the ground more than in the air.  as for cliffs, i have stomped 25 footers effortlessly.  they arent stiff skis by any means but they have enough stiffness in the tails that even if you land backseat you wont wash out like on EP's.  They also charge really well, just keep your weight a little forward and haul ass....go with the night trains and you wont be dissapointed

Dude, this is almost a good situation to be in for someone your size. You are small and light so you wont sink in easily at all. Get some lizzies, in my opinion they would be perfect for you. Wide and long enuf for a small guy like you to take in pow and also can shred the park if you want to. If not I'd look into some jj's or seths.

you are to small to need a ski like hellbents/ep pros/ caylors. You will float fine with most skis over 100 in the waist. Also dont let the stiffer flex fool you, the extreme rocker makes this ski plenty playful.

EP's are definitely soft, but wouldnt be my choice if we're talking larger cliffs and more technical terrain.

He is only 120 lbs though, part of the reason I was thinking bacons or something similar would be good for him.
Also, if you want another pair of atomics, the blogs are a sick looking ski, but I haven't skiied them

And my plans for pow skis just got fucked. Bacons, the skis I've decided I want are going for $400 or $500 with binders at a shop near my place, sick right? Nope, today my Punx decide to harsh delamming on one of the tails. Too old to warantee, so I'm stuck with getting new park skis. Thanks for the help anyways, I'll be looking back on this thread when I can afford a second pair of skis.

You should try getting a good all mountain ski instead of a pure park ski. Say something like the Kung Fujas, 4frnt MSP, or something along those lines. You will have a little extra width (and possibly rocker depending on which ski you get) to help you in soft snow but they can still be light enough to jib and trick stuff without being cumbersome.

Obsetheds are a sick I have used them ib thE park before and they are pretty fun, I be stomped bigger cliffs on them and they shred through every thing ( all in kicking horse), I personally ski benchetlerssickest ski I've ever ridden before, but might be a little to wide. Shoguns could work to for you

179 One Lifes would still be sick for you.  They slay in pow and a lot of people shred them in the park.  or just go with Lizzies cause they do everything
