yes true, if it all did go to shit, depending on the circumstances, i think id maybe be happier. hell it would probably be closer to a true america than it is now.
while yes i do agree that it is too broke to fix, to an extent, it doesn't make sense to break it more. and i think it could actually be reversed, people now are really starting to see how this country has and is going in the wrong direction. hell its hard for me to call it the united states anymore, because its so damn far from how it should be.
while i wouldnt call myself self-sufficient, i am trying to learn alot on the subject and get alot of experience. me and a friend were talking about this the other day.
have we reached a point and gone too far in the wrong direction? there is a good balance between living like cavemen, and completely relying on government, other people, and technology to live. and i definatly think we have passed that balance point. its almost disgusting how much we like to make everyone but ourselves responsible for our own life.
IMO anywhere between the 1600's and 1950's, maybe the 70's or 80's depending on who you are had it right. enough technology to not make every day risking your life. but lacking enough that you actually had to live.
i recently spent a couple days in nebraska, in tiny little towns the whole time. where people still have to work a little to eat, and be responsible for taking care of themselves. laws just dont seem to apply to them. people dont give a shit about the speed limits, cops dont enforce it, you can buy a gun without even thinking of doing a background check. half the people you see have guns on them.
yet they are by far some of the happiest people ive ever met. everyone is nice to you, they offer you lunch, dinner, etc.. its awesome. and it was so refreshing to see people just being obvlivious to the bullshit going on around them.
