Fuck me right now

I agree with everything you said....theres no doubt Germany will advance out of their group, but now, they will easily get out in a early round. Before, depending on who wins what and what not, Germany was on task to get to the semis i think against most likely portugal or brazil.......and right now, both of those teams will beat them.....

So they are out Ballack and Enke fuck it

TBH i don't think that losing ballack is the end of Germany's campaign. I mean sure he's an experienced skipper and all but he is most definitely not the one man Germany team he's made out to be, i think he's often kind of mediocre actually. Maybe it's just me but it seems that with Germany's structured style of play he''l be easier to replace than some of the true play-makers on the flair teams.

Add the fact that teams fielding him have a shocking finals record (granted he did just pick up 2 titles with Chelsea (thanks Lampard, Terry and Drogba)).

Also, probably best to lose him now anyway rather than a week before or something. Can't wait for Schweinsteiger and maybe Lahm to step up and steal the show in SA.

Come on Germany (and NZ!)

Agreed that its better to lose him now than in a few weeks, but the reason I'm so mad he's out is not due to his skill, but his maturity and leadership.  Yeah, he might not be the best player to some, while others say he's one of the better Germans, regardless of how good he is, a good chunk of the team, especially the better players, are young, and haven't really played a lot at the international level, especially when they have a legit chance of winning, or making the final game. 

But yeah, I think Poldoski will step up and have a very good world cup, along with others as you mentioned.  I'm putting 100 on Germany to win, and if they do I think the payout is 800 or 600 haha

you don't speak any italian.
you have never lived in italy, nor spent more than a week or 2 there on vacation.
you aren't even sure of your italian roots, just that your name sounds italian.

and if i asked you any question about the italian national team, without using wikipedia, you wouldn't be able to answer any of them?

Am i about right? If not, my apologies, you don't fall in the same category as 98% of their fans.

i don't get why every german fan has this deep belief that podolski is gonna rip it up for them. The man is a striker, and in 27 apps this season, struggled to score only twice. I know he's better for the national team, but come on. If you go into the finals are having an awful season, there isn't much you can do. I'm hoping he does a bit better, but after the season he's had, i don't expect it.

 I think he will do good for a few reasons....one to piss of poland, two to win (he's very competitive) and three, in 70 national appearances he has 37 goals, not too bad if you ask me, and hes only what, 24 years old?

As for me, I can trace my roots back to Germany (and also Russia). My g-ma is from there, and so are my greatgrand parents etc etc, however,  i do not speak german, i will admit that, but if it means anything, my parents lived in Russia and I was conceived there

And congratulations, assuming you didn't just use google translator (now with audio, which is pretty damn cool might i add) you are part of the 2% of italy fans who know anything about the country other than "whooooaa italia numba 1 baby!"

Complete joke it is then.
The difference is with England this time round is Capello's picking the best team, not necessarily the best players.
Capello's team's built around a target man - Rooney. Bent isn't really a target man so doesn't fit the setup. And Walcott didn't get in cos he's gash!

Which is why 2010 is England's year, not only great players, but players that work together as a team under better management than Sven Retardo Eriksson.
Hopefully they can work it out so Ledley King plays in the more important matches since he should be the third choice centre back with Rio now injured.

Yeah so is any team if something happens to a key player. Although I think England could manage, Crouch and Defoe were a decent partnership for Tottenham this year.

One day they declare themselves to be the winners. (6 months before the tournament even begins.) Then someone gets injured, and everyone immediately assumes they are finished, won't go anywhere....then they find a replacement, and once again, everyone is absolutely certain they've already won it, and playing the games is a mere formality.

England a has a legitimate shot this time around, but they pretty much have for the last 3 world cups, yet they still blew it.

You gotta go in like the french. We know our team is good, but won't do shit. And if they achieve anymore than losing all 3 games, we'll be pissed, but it'll more than we expected.

well ireland can go fuck themselves. Fact of the matter is that France is there, and ireland isn't. I think it's gotten to the point of ridiculousness with that whole thing. Sure, it was bad, but no one is against them. The french admit it was wrong, fifa admits it was wrong, but nothing could be done due to the rules. If they wanted to break the rules for this 1 situation, then they'd have to go back and do over everything. Including a certain penalty the irish needed to even get to the game vs france...

You wanna talk about injustices, look at france vs west germany in 1982. That should have been France's first world cup win, but the worst reffing in history during the semis killed their hopes.

I just think ireland is doing nothing more than making fools of themselves. When they don't qualify for euro2012, are they going to blame france for ruining their team morale?

Haha, I've watched the 1982 game online before......

Also, forgot to say, I am 0 percent Irish. Please don't think I was bashing you, I took french in high school, and I've traveled there, therefore making me root for France over Ireland any day!

And as for the french admitting it was wrong and what you said, I agree and not sure why people got so mad? It might have been a bad call, but thats life.

And yea, my heritage is about half german (yea I can trace my roots to Germany, thanks grand ma haha) so.......I agree its a foul, I'm just pissed we lost to Italy...... That was the year Poland faced France for Third right?

yea, and france got 4th because they basically couldn't believe what happened. It was a disaster, but whatever. Won it in 98 anyways. Just a shame that platini never won the wc.

ha, you're pissed you lost to italy? My hatred of italy and all things italian is deep founded, and does not back down. As my grandfather has always said to me, "italy would be a lovely country, if it wasn't filled with italians."

My hatred for Italy really took off when my roommate always talked about how Italian he was, even though he has never been, never will go, has no family there, can't trace his family back to there, can't speak Italian and can't pronounce Italian names.
(My suitemmate is from Scotland, and I'm very German so we both watch a lot of soccer, him Celtic, me Bayern, so my roommate would always talk about how Italian he was and how he should be playing soccer in the pros because hes Italian, even though he can't juggle a soccer ball more than 2 times without it hitting the ground...../rant)

I would raise your Karma, but you're at a 10....maybe I can keep pressing up until it says 11? haha

Your suitemate sounds like damn near every italian i know. Just wait. Starting friday, they will be out in full force. I was devastated in 2006, and the worst part of it was just seeing all these people who in 2 weeks, i knew wouldn't care celebrating. I literally live my life in 4 year intervals, between world cups. And there were these assholes who didn't even know where the finals were....ahhhhhhhhh its so upsetting just to think about.

Haha, don't be hating on the 2 juggle only people. I am terrible with my feet, so i went with the alternate route...and became a keeper. May not be able to juggle for shit, but i can save any freekick and am not half bad on penalties.

YES! I am going to that game, you are working?!!!?

On a Celtic game about a month ago (yea my suitemmate pays for Euro Soccer channels in our dorm, pretty sick) They take questions from fans, and, since his name is very scottish, they always take his, which was if the game was still going on. At that point they weren't sure, but isn't it now 100 percent?


And no hate towards 2 juggle, as long as you don't think you should be in the pros for soccer!

oh god no, i know i'm far from pro. I'd still love to go to france or something and try my luck in some amatuer leagues though.

Yea, i work at fenway so i'll most likely be working the game. Ha, if you feel the need, shoot me a pm before the gameday if you think you might want a seat re-arrangement. No promises since its a special event and will probably be packed, but i can always see what strings i can pull.

I'm pretty sure tickets go on sale June 22, and, well, my suitemmates family is obsessed with Celtic (the dad said if they made it into the championship he was flying us there, and he was dead serious) so I know they will be calling to get tickets the second they go on sale. It's a bummer they aren't playing Rangers, its a team from Portugal now I think? Not real familiar with Portugal, but I know every Celtic player since I've watched every game they've played for the past 9 months haha

yea, sporting lisbon. you can thank the boston globe for persuading the rangers not to come.

Should still be a decent game though. I'm hoping to be able to watch some of the game but i know we're gonna be busy tossing drunks and god only knows what else. It's gonna be a pain if i have to toss celtic fans though. Hah, these are more my type of people! I'm diehard Arsenal, but im big into celtic too. Dont' want to throw them out for supporting celtic!

Unfortunately just read that nelson mandela's 13 year old great-grandaughter was killed in a car accident driving home from the kickoff concert. Shame the start of such a great event is marked by her death.

I heard when they played England in the last cup if they won the players were all promised however many gallons of rum or something haha.

I got invited to a S. African bar for the opening game vs. Mexico, but not sure if I want to go its on at 7am here.

Was working down in San Diego last World Cup and took a morning off to catch a game at a local pub. Some dude ordered an Irish Car Bomb at like 6 in the morning, and the bartender looked at him all funny, then when he brought it to him the guy looked confused and said he actually wanted an Irish Coffee. lol

convince your teachers that the world cup is a far more important lesson than what they could ever teach you. It's world history, math, science, world cultures, international understanding, and physical education all rolled into one.

during the 2006 finals i managed to convince my french teacher to let us watch the first germany game under the premise of "France is in the tournament too. Not playing right now, but germany is...and they are close to france."

has to be 2 men. apparently people just think it's 1 because the keeper is almost never off his line ahead of the attacker, but surprisingly, it was an accurate call. i didn't think so at first either.

Godamn I was screaming at the announcers for a good 5 minutes. They kept saying Mexico was robbed. Absolutely not, that was clearly offsides. I can't believe the announcers don't know such an integral rule of the game.
