Im looking into buying a controller. Im new to the whole subject at hand so i wouldnt mind some suggestions on where to start, and what to buy at first.

How much are you looking to spend?  And what program are you using? I just bought a Hercules DJ Console MK2 and I'm liking it.  Its a good beginner platform and it has a built-in soundcard which is pretty much essential.  Also its pre-mapped for Virtual DJ so its plug-and-play which is convenient.

another good option would be the Numark Total Control and their DJ/IO soundcard package.  It has a few more buttons and knobs which is nice but it's going to be a little more expensive. 

If you got a lot of money to drop I'd go with something like the M-Audio Torq, Vestax VCI-100, or the Hercules RMX.  They're all awesome (especially the Torq IMO) but are going to be much pricier.
