Shingles

anyone ever have this? its like adult chicken pox, and im freaking out, because i heard it can get super painful in the later stages, and can last for over a year. someone enlighten me or make me feel better.

Postherpetic neuralgia is the most common complication of shingles. It lasts for at least 30 days and may continue for months to years. Symptoms are:4
  • Aching, burning, stabbing pain in the area of the earlier shingles rash.
  • Persistent pain that may linger for years.

thats the part thats really fucking with me. i dont care of what i look like, i just live such an active lifestyle i dont want anything to slow me down, you know?

I had it for a week and a half when i was in seventh grade (21 now). Fucken hurt, but you can get painkillers for it. It'll leave a gnarly scar for a coupla years. Dont scratch em.

Just use the power of the mind and the medicine and it'll go away real fast... and i'm not kidding about just willing it away. It's all in your head, power of positive thinking man. good luck

It is the herpes zinster (spelling) virus which chills out in your nerves after you get chicken pox.  When shingles strike, it's the virus traveling down the nerves in certain parts of your body and breaking out on the skin.  This is why the breakouts might have a tree branch-like pattern (following nerve patterns), and because it's in your nerves, it supposedly hurts like hell.

I got it last summer when i was 14 and all it was, was a little rash on my back. Didn't cause any pain, but the doctor said it can be super painful when you're older.
