Visual Basic 2008

Any one have any good tutorials on VB2008?

I started by reading Beginning Programming for Dummies and got a pretty good understanding of how LibertyBasic works. Now I figured out how to get VB for free so I switched over because it is so much easier. But now everything is a bit different haha and I'm kinda lost. So basically does anyone have/know of a some good tutorials I could read to help get going again?

Screw that, dont learn vb, it has aids.

install python and learn that, its a really good language to start with.

oh man i hated vb. all i remember was, well, nothing, because it's useless and not important!

there was a good textbook at my school for it, but i dont know about any online. from what i remember, just google it and you'll most likely find something.

VBA for excel and access is one of the most useful languages you could possibly learn if you plan on working at some sort of corporation.  We use it all the time at work for lots of different things.

Basic has gotten a reputation of being a "baby language" since it's inception and that reputation has stuck with it all the way to Visual Basic .Net. But for getting things done quickly and easily without the greatest efficiency VB is great. Plus, once you know one .Net you pretty much know them all.

VB is one of the easiest to learn and once you're proficient in one programming language you can learn the rest quite easily.

But personally, I'd recommend you go with Visual C++ over VB because C++ is much more widely used.

From what I read I thought that C++ is more powerful then Basic because it is written in a language a lot closer to binary, but is also harder to learn/write. Being a 15 year old kid teaching himself with books and just doing this out of interest I don't really see then need for the extra power. Thanks a lot for the information though.

Im in a VB class right now, and i have gained a new respect for people who program crazy things like video games. that shit can be so hard to just do some of the simplest things. tonight for example i will most likely be turning in half of my homework because i have no idea how to do the second case I was assigned

What was the assignment? I want to see if I can actually make something useful for once and not just random shit haha. And plus if I get something to work I'll send you the code.
