Spk pros leather

Hey, has anyone taken off the leather o their spk pros?? i want to dye them but i want to know if i won´t screw them up if i take the leather of them.

i think there are little buttons near the bottom that you unclip the leather with. not 100% sure but I think they do, or at least they used to.

I have spks and the leather is ripping off of them. It is just plastic under them so you should be fine to just rip the leather off, but i could  be wrong...
