Are you Studying Business?....Mac vs. PC

Next year I'm going to college and I'm majoring in business.  I want to get a Macbook (I've never had a Mac before) but my parents are trying to convince me that since I'm studying business, I should get a PC.  Is there any reason I should get a PC over a Mac?  Like I know the whole stereotype, but does it really make a difference?  Please give me a legitamite response especially if your studying business.

I'm not even a mac guy here, owned pc's all my life. It just sounds like they are doing something wrong. Could be specs of the macs? base models with small harddrives partioned wrong possibly. I'm just saying this because when you install bootcamp you now have 2 different OS's on the mac. Windows will run off the mac's hardware the same as it would off a pc's hardware.

I'm gonna have to say it would be your friends' mistakes when partitioning their drives or installing the programs.

I'm just saying when the University has to hire Mac technicians specifically for Mac owners and the problems they have with Excel and Access and cant fix it, its a problem. Re-installing the software would be an easy fix.

so why would you spend 1000 on a laptop then another couple hundred on another operating system when you can just buy a 500 computer and not have to deal with this?

i graduated last may with a business degree in finance, i used a mac throughout college. it worked extremely well and was compatible with everything and anything it needed to be. I would highly recommend a mac, and yes I have owned PC's all my life up until college when I switched.

if you want a mac, go for the mac. you can always dual boot if you desperately need something that only runs on windows, but i see you using mostly MS office which you can get for a mac.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their insight. 

From what I've heard, I think a Mac is a better computer and if I was in college for any other subject I'd probably spend the money to get the Mac.

But for business, I see that while you can use a Mac, and some schools suggest it, its just a lot easier to buy a PC so theres no compatibility issues and what not.

You can keep on debating if you want, but I'm going with the PC for my situation.

First off, thank you for being honest.

But yea I wanted to try a mac because I've heard my friends RAVE about them, figured most other kids would have them, don't get viruses, etc.

And I thought my question was pretty clear, are there any problems that arise when you use a mac for business.  And the answer is yes, problems can arise (in certain circumstances).  Multiple people have said that excel doesn't run as well (I've heard the lack of shortcuts on a mac make it difficult) and some programs (heavy business programs) might not run as well, and that some people have had trouble converting stuff to PC format.  Lastly I don't want to deal with running two setups when I can just run one.

All those problems outweigh the benefits I've heard from people who love macs.

get a mac..your in college macs are the easiest..simplest and most fun computer you can have..im in business and theres nothing the mac cant do for it..and if i need a program theres one made for a mac.. macbooks are made for college students..dont listen to ma and pa.get a mac.
