Need pow ski for mom!!!

hi guys,
its my moms birthday soon, and shes really enjoying pow skiing lately. howver she has carving skis which make powskiing unneccesarily hard for her. i thought id buy her pow skis so we can ride together once in a while.
so does anybody of you know any good women pow skis, which also do ok on piste?
she is 167 tall and weighs around 60 kilo. she is 45 years old and rides very confident since she started at a young age.
it would be best if the ski is not that expensive. a link to a site where the ski can be bought would also be greatly appreciated.

Wow you are a nice son! My two suggestions would be the Rossignol VooDoo Pro BC 110 or the Atmoic Blog. Both are awesome pow sticks, but they still slay on groomers and crud. This girl I know who has the Rossi's used to race and now has them as her one ski quiver and is plenty satisfied with them. And I have yet to meet someone who dislikes the blogs. As for a website where you can buy them... I am a huge support your local shop guy, so I got nothing for ya!

Check them out, I am sure she would be really happy with both.

do you think the line lizzie would be an option too?
i know its marketed as a park ski, but looking at the width it seems it handles pow well too.
but the rossi voodoo 110 seems just what she needs. thanks alot!!!
ill have a look into some other ones aswell.

thats what my mom uses and she loved them before she fucked her knee up. as an added bonus my mom has the 2011 version and the top sheet is pretty sick compared to the 2010 imo. also check out the roxy mumbo jumbo if you are having a hard time finding the rossis.

Not Necessarily a Pow specific ski, but rips everywhere in all conditions.

lizzy is a good idea but i bet she will find them weird because of the almost symmetrical and more forward feel. you want something very traditional feeling because she's used to carving skis so i'd stay away from anything rockered or tapered at all. also you don't need to get anything super fat, the fatter you go the weirder it'll be for her, so stick to like 100-110 underfoot

As the skis are going to be used in bounds and needs to work on packed snow I would not recommend a fully reverse camber ski. Fully reverse camber skis are the best thing ever in pow but are not fun on packed snow. A regular camber underfoot and reverse camber in tip and tail ski would be best. I'm guessing she's not planning on landing switch so a really asymmetric sidecut ski (narrow tail) would be much more suitable. I have fully reverse camber ski (Kuros) and regular underfoot/reverse camber in tip and tail skis (S7s) and I pretty much always take the S7s over the Kuros when skiing in a resort.

My sister (similar in size to your mom) has S7s in 176 and loves them. But, she skis a lot of backcountry so the extra floatation from the length is useful. If your mum is wanting a resort pow ski then the smaller Voodoo (I think ROXY have the same ski but with their branding and graphic) is probably a better bet. It will still have more than enough float but be easier to throw around on piste.

K2 Phat Luv are a very popular fatter all around womens ski. Technically not in this years line up but they can be found all over and do the job well

166/176 S7 Depending on how ski skis. It's 110mm underfoot at that length. I know it's not very traditional, but trust me, she will have a blast on it. It's still mounted reasonably traditionally, and quick to get the hang of.

You're probably gona want to be looking at something with a straight tail. Most older skiers are use to having that support in the tail and if you throw her on a pair of twins she'll most likely wheelie out or not like the feel of twins. I'd say stick with volkl or k2, both have excellent womens straight tailed pow boards. Unless she's a ripping skier I'd keep the rocker down to something manageable. Putting an inexperienced skier on super rockered skis can be ugly.. Your best bet will be to bring her to a shop, learn all the differences in rocker and flex and have her pick them out
