Replying to FCP effects tips and tricks!

Yo guys, I got a load of footage from this season that needs to be put together into an edit. Can anyone give me tips on the best effects to use(if any) and more specifically the zoom effect, i've got quite a lot of clips which would look a lot better zoomed in a bit. Is there a way were I can just zoom in a tiny bit without it continuing to zoom? I've got a clip with a finger in shot, I wanna zoom through this ideally I know this is a lot but if there's any other tips for putting together a good edit I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again.
