Last week, Scott made the annual migration to Alaska. Each spring
film crews head to AK with their top powder skiers to take advantage of
the long days and great snow that April has to offer. This year, Scott
is working with skiers Henrik Windstedt and Cody Townsend to get some action shots for Salomon and Matchstick Productions.
Alaska can be the best place in the world to ski or the worst. Bad
weather can lead to spending all your time at the hotel or bar instead
of on the mountain. Fortunately, the weather has been cooperating for
Scott and the crew for the most part. I had the chance to speak with
Scott this morning before he took off for the day and got this update...
Day 1 turned out to be an epic blue bird day. Henrik and Cody took full
advantage of the weather and charged it! The crew got dumped on the
next few days so the helicopters had to stay grounded. Good thing
Girdwood has more to offer than backcountry. Scott, Henrik, and Cody
spent the snowy days hot lapping resort pow at the world famous Alyeska Resort . Scott even got to spend a day on the hill with resort owner John Byrne.
Today the sun returned, so the crew, with the help of the Chugach Powder Guides, are headed back out into the backcountry. Hopefully the sun sticks around for the next few weeks so the crew can do work!
Here are a couple photos Scott sent this morning. Enjoy!
