Gutter rail?

so a couple of my friends have backyard setups and what park doesnt include a flatbar rail?!
i came to thinking of how to make a simple flatbar rail without using round pvc.
saw a pic of someone who used gutter as a rail. DOES IT WORK?
any input other than gutter for a flatbar. cheap price is key here. i cant be spending 60 dollars for a square inch of lexan and what not.

i would just put 4 or 5 small round pieces of pvc together to make a flat bar, that is what works the best for me.  a friend of mine has a rail exactly like the one on the picture and i don't think it slides as well as round pvc and the end cracked the first day we used it.  i just screwed five 1" pvc pipes onto a 2x6 (actually 5" wide) and that works perfect, cost me about $10 for the pvc and the 10ft 2x6, then i made the rest of the rail out of extra wood i already had.  if you don't have extra wood buying a few extra 2x4s would only cost you like 5-6 extra dollars.  thats what i would do

gutters are aluminum, i wouldnt use them they're too soft
