Am I Too Old?

Am I too old to have any hope of succeeding in the freestyle world? Not to brag, but I've got a fuckload of natural talent on skis, but I only recently got into park, and that's the only option to make it big in Nova Scotia. Seeing the freestylers who have been skiing park since their early teens (I'm 17) and knowing that they've got years of experience on me, I want to close the gap, and know I can, but I don't know if it's even worth trying to make it big in the park. My family doesn't have the cash to travel to Aspen for 3 weeks of the year, or pop off to Sugarloaf for a weekend whenever we feel like it, and I don't know how I can work on my skiing during the summer. The only local competitors aren't that good, and don't seem to have much of a drive to become better, but I don't know how I can close the gap.

Your not going to go pro in skiing. There is no point in overdoing something when you really have no monetary incentive to do so. Simply ski as much as you can without putting other things in your life at risk, friends, school, etc. thats whats important. Progression is great, and often when your progressing your having the most fun, but that doesn't mean kill yourself in the attempt to be all you can be. There are bigger things in life then skiing, and its pretty sad you haven't realized that by now and your 17...

If however you are trying to go pro, and ski for a living. Then I can assure you have as much of a chance of doing that then you do winning the lottery. Good Luck!

hahahaha are you a fucking retard? haha not that good lol, its funny cause at nationals people from your hill got two golds, two bronzes, and a silver medal, but you're right they're not that good. They dont have much of a drive to get better either. The only train three days a week on snow, one night a week on snow and go to water ramps twice a year. But like i said, you're right they'er not very good and have no drive to get better. lolcats

forget ittttttt if you don't have the drive. its just about dedicating yourself and having fun along the way. you're definitely not too old. and don't whine about not having money...if you have a mountain to ski at during the winter, embrace it. by the way - you can always find someone with more experience than you, no matter who you are, learn from them. and if you really commit, it'll be worth every minute.

Dude, I was fucking out of my mind. Seriously, I wasn't thinking straight. The guys at Wentworth are absolutely FLAT OUT amazing, it's not even funny. I honestly regret posting this whole thread, I was NOT thinking straight, and I'm generally not retarded. :P
